I'm planning to try and create a game similar to the old Worms map with more content to it, anyone have any suggestions for a similar missile system that will not a involve having a couple hundred small triggers like the setup that i'm thinking about now?
What i'm going with right now: (Didn't start yet, making this topic first)
4 Players (Originally wanted 5-6)
4 Comps (Ammo for each player)
Each players Wraith would have 10-20 different sized locations around it that would be used to sense the closest target which may require dozons of triggers for each player. It may require a lot more work if I end up being forced into having every different type of missile with its own set of these triggers, but i'm sure it may not come to that with a max of one missile at a time(more than one would be better).
Any suggestions for an easier missile system?
None.
Is that what the original Worms used? Look at his triggers if you haven't already.
None.
It seems similar but hopefully the method i'm thinking about is more complicated than it needs to be and that I can find an easier way,
I tried cracking open that map to see whats inside without any luck getting into it.

Give the wraith to a computer player who is also enemy to your enemies and run the strategic or random (not sure which) suicide AI on it. It will move to attack the closest enemy.
Then just center a location which is slightly bigger than a wraith's attack radius and order it to move there (or whatever you wish) when you detect an enemy inside and use a 1x1 location to detect when to explode the missile.
The only problem is that the wraith will always choose the leftmost enemy when there are 2 units inside the location.
So it could happen that 1 tile in right of you is an enemy, but it will still target the enemy 3 tiles left of you.
So maybe you could combine your method, so you make a 6x6 (wraith radius) a 4x4 and a 2x2 location, which is only 3 triggers.
That sounds like a good plan, the Wraith is the player controlled unit and not the missile though but I get what you mean.
Kills one of my PowerUp idea's
(Invincibility Removed, can manual attack others for a short time) but thats very minor and worth doing 100-200 less triggers.
