Gameplay

In this game you will play as the general of an army, and it's time for war. First thing's first: Choose your weapon of choice.

%uFFFDDagger - Its very fast, but weak damage. Wind Elemental.
%uFFFDKatana - Medium speed and damage, splash. Lightning Elemental.
%uFFFDBow & Arrow - Medium speed and high damage. Fire Elemental.

You control your general character throughout the course of the game. You lead your troops in an attempt to own the enemy camp. The game is meant for 2v2 battle, so it's best that way of course.

As you're hacking and slashing your way through enemy forces, feel free to use numerous abilities that are at your disposal. The game will allow players to input up to three spells at a time, this will result in new, more powerful spells. As you decimate the enemy forces, you collect War Earnings (Cash) which is what you want.

Okay, so you got the cash. Now what? Access the control menu off to the side of the map. You will see a more specialized control menu to the side, but ignore that for now. The one I'm talking about is where you can spend your cash to improve your guy. Here are your options:

$2200 Magic - Investing in this will allow you to cast more spells more often.
$3000 Armor - Improving your armor will make your defense higher, so you don't die as often.
$3000 Weapon - This will give you a new weapon that owns more shit than your last one.
$3600 Attack - Increases your attack damage by 2.*
$4000 Reinforcements - This will increase the number of troops that you command on the battlefield.
$5500 Train Troops - This will train your troops so that they pwn more.

*Only available for purchase if you have the best weapon for your weapon type.

"What's that over there" you ask? Well, you wouldn't be a general if you didn't actually command the troops would you? There is a unit that can be moved to any of 7 beacons, of on no beacons. When your commander unit is on a beacon, all troops under your control will patrol to that region of the battlefield. When your commander unit is on no beacons, your troops will hold their ground around the area that you left them. This is where tactics come into play.

Oh... There's more? Yes, there is.

Inventory

There is another space, and that is your personal inventory. Here you will be able to manage your general. It displays your current weapon and current armor. This is also where the gateway is located. Use it to have spells. There is a pretty good selection of equipment that your general can have:

Tier 3

%uFFFDThere is a 0.6% Chance to obtain a Scroll of Revival from each kill IF you do not already have one.

Mystery Boxes

Okay, so you're fighting out on the battlefield and you see a mystery package floating in the air... What else would be expected but to get what's inside of it? When you get a mystery box, some pretty intense things can happen:

%uFFFDNOTHING! - Yep, that's right. You just ran past everyone to get the mystery box, and it's completely and totally 100% Empty. F ur life man.

%uFFFDParalysis - Sucks... You are now a sitting duck for the next 10 seconds. Better hope no one is nearby waiting to own your shit.

%uFFFDInfuse - Great! your Magic gets fully recharged. Unfortunately, your HP is reduced to critical.

%uFFFDStrength Augment - This is great. You will now have 4 extra attack power on all your shit.

%uFFFDRevival Scroll - Only works if you are scroll-less at the moment. Adds one completely free Revival Scroll to your inventory.

%uFFFDWar Funds - $750, no strings attached. Getting one of these early on can give you a serious advantage.

%uFFFDMP - Plain and simple. This restores 15MP instantly.

%uFFFDNegative War Funds - Sucks... 350 Earnings are out the window. It's nothing to be happy about.

%uFFFDSummoned Minion - Summons a pretty cool minion that you can have fighting along side of you for one minute. This box is stackable.

%uFFFDCharge - Getting this box will auto-recharge your medical pad, eliminating the 60 second wait to use it. If you chose the Katana, this box will also restore your shields.

%uFFFDReinforcements - Only obtainable if you have reinforcements under Level 4. Increases your reinforcements level by one.

I feel like stabbing some noobs.

Goin up my rampz.

Leather Chestplates look sexy on me.

Just checking out this Mother Effin' Mystery Box.

Commanding some troops. These guys are the lowest level troops available.

After stacking the paper, I blew 3k on this armor.

If you really need some help, you can always count on a useless Mystery Box.

Get Ling, and max weapons. While you max weapons, kill a lot of spawns, and also use your speed to your advantage and whore out on all the boxes. The box prizes have more Good than Bad(750+ or 350-) so you might luck out on some Strength Augments. Since rine and archon are slow mofos, sneak up on them and own with fast attack. When you're done upping, up the Armor. After you've maxed out on both, keep whoring boxes and get Reinforcements. Since your forces increase every 12 minutes and the summons STILL do shit to you, only get reinforcements. Now use your troop commander to rally all your forces to the most left or right spot. when a lot of troops have gathered, send them all to attack a base.

Win.

If I noticed you doing that strategy, I'd do one of three things:

1. Mana rush and take you our with A powerful spell cuz your low hp and armor would cry against it.
2. Get fast reinforcements (Ranged units) that would own your low hp ass before you could touch them for money.
3. As bow, just do a simple stun spell on u and let my higher dmg take you out before you can attack me.

is it just me or archon really sucks against the other generals?
When I went up against ling as archon, I got raped.
When someone played archon and went against rine, the archon got raped.

And listing the different spell combos in the game would be helpful, like a spell list beacon or something.
Fun game btw, just that there seems to be little spawns sometimes and I have to box hunt while my friend hogs the spawns.

Edit: Nevermind, archon doesn't suck that much. It takes awhile to pick up.

Bug: When you kill the pylon, it says you receive 2500 funds but I got nothing.

Ok wow wtf...this game sucks my dick!!!!

Lol jk, this looks purely astounding man, so manny, so manny...upgrading things and customization/ inventory and spells. I could see this game being played 1000000 and never having close to the same thing happen. I mean it looks and and dandy, but I gotta go try it out, anyways man, for now, gj, but I'll get back to you later ;p

Oh shoot >< Yeah, as you have said, and from the games I played myself, each round is different from the last. There are also so many ways to win and different things that will turn the tables so it's really balanced in the way that it's anyone's game throughout most of it.

And I forgot that I finished a new version 1.03 which kicks the shit out of 1.02, so don't play 1.02 anymore.

In my honest opinion, v1.03 is worse than v1.02. The bow & arrow was suppose to be medium speed and high damage. Now it's super fast speed and high damage.
I mean, when people just go straight damage rine, then the game gets boring. It's just a game of Who Can Get Attack Ups The Fastest.
Eliminate stim, fix the bug I mentioned, and try to find some ways to make archon stand out (It's ok and all but the rine's and ling's spells are much cooler and stronger). Until then, I'm sticking to v1.02.

Btw, this is pretty much the only game I played for the last 3 days.

Did you play the latest version of 1.03 where the bow has 0 armor? If you played the first 1.03 I totally agree with what you said because I didn't nerf the bow enough when I added stim. However, in the new version of V1.03 (The one uploaded to the new post) The bow's armor is reduced to 0 (less than dagger) and his HP was reduced as well. Also, I made sure to nerf the damage to discourage people from doing an all damage build. Shortbow's attack is now 10. Elvin bow is now 14. Perseus bow is now 19. Artemis bow is now 25. Burning bow (Ultimate) was 55 and is now 31.

In the opening text when you choose bow, it says that one prefers to attack from a distance, and has deadly accuracy (meaning high potential to kill). I modified him to fit this role better because I thought it was more fitting for an archer-esque character. A lot of people might find it hard to deal with a marine with burning bow, but If they rushed burning bow that means they have no armor, and no good spells, so just bust out a ZD combo (Shockwave) it shuts them up really quick making it easy to pick off their small hp (Even smaller since they've probably been using stim.) For now, I'm just hoping these changes will fit into the game, if I test more and think of something better, you can expect to see it in v1.04.

I'd also appreciate if people didn't play v1.02 for a couple reasons:
•It has a bug where certain daggers cost the player 2 4000 instead of 3000 because of an error in my triggers.
•There is a bug where the game will say that you've earned 2500 from taking down an enemy's support beacon, but players do not actually receive the 2500. This issue is fixed in the newest version of v1.03.
•The katana got improvements from 1.02 to 1.03, and I'd want people to play as the new one instead of learn to hate the old (who was not as good as the other heroes)

Finally: I will explain the advantages of playing as katana, since of course many people don't even give him a chance.

•He has instant teleport that does damage to people near u when u used it.
•DTT is an ownage defensive combo.
•TTT will make magic-whores cry.
•Static charge will make attack-whores cry.
•6 shield armor
•Kali's curse if used in conjunction with Recharge will own shit.
•Splash damage, Kali blade does 50 attack. (Same as the new burning bow)

He does have disadvantages too the main one being that no one wants to be the slowest guy, he starts off doing only 8 damage so you almost have to buy kotetsu no matter what. And finally, he doesn't really shine until late game when his versatility outdoes dagger and bow.

Anyway >< Of course it's a game still in development. But I'm glad people are enjoying it a lot. I just wanted to make a game that was fun and replayable, and it seems like you think it is, so thank you.

SORRY if you've wasted your time with this post- Check out the LAST POST for an ownage new update.

ok the whole point of numbers is to make sure you don't end up with these kind of problems. If you see a hit on your latest upload you can't keep the same number it has to go to 1.03a or 1.031 or whatever. If you don't see a hit you might be ok but i myself wouldn't risk it. Just change the number. This is why people are always dling certain maps that they already have :\ !!!

Along with that why are you using 1.03? if these are big changes you should be goin to 1.3 or even 2.0 depending on how big the change is. Hundreths are only for few minor fixes and tenths should be for big changes but not total game affects. When you make huge additions that affect the entire game it should go to the ones place. This can varry depending on how simple or complex your game is and how many versions you expect to release.

not trying to put you down its just frustrating when so many people do it.

Haha, Killer - They're numbers, so you gotta relax. No one cares what number version they have as long as it plays they way they like.

Money >< Thanks for pointing that out haha It's fine for now I guess, I have a fixed version if you really want it to say 1.04, but definitely tell me how you like the game, i think it's one of my best maps yet and i hope you think so too.

Urine ^^ that takes a lot of guts to compare this to your baby like that, but I'd be happy to hear about tweaks you think would make the game more enjoyable for more people.

Hmmmm, what to say, what to say...
I've got to tell you I'm really at a loss on this one, I only played a couple of games due to time restraints, but so far, what I saw was good. The armor and weapons thing honestly wasn't what I thought it was going to be, like I thought when you bought new armor you could like combine it with old armor and switch them on and off...really i d k how that would make sense but yeah lol. Here's a question, can your armor and weapons be destroyed? because I think it would add to the game (maybe) if everytime you bought new armor, you got to keep you old armor as well, but your armor can eventually wear down and break, and you can repair it or switch it for some older armor of yours, or you can combine your old armors to make new ones ;p

I'm also confused about the lifes stuff, so do you have a set amount of lives or is it some other system where it's general, but you might get more or less? Also, you should make the terrain a lil more interesting, i mean it's great don't get me wrong, but where there are long patches of grass, you should just add some temple bits or a tree or two.

Also, I think it would be cool if you could save rally points for your guys or something. because sometimes i would forget about them and they would just be going to the spot, but no one was there...it would be cool if you could do something like this: set a rally point for them, and then when they get to that rally point and there are no enemy forces in the area, they automatically go to a second pre planned rally point that you set. i d k, these are just random ideas, I really havn't played the game to its full potential yet, I gotta get some more games in. ;p

Anyways, looks good so far, and as to what urine said, I think this could be better them temple seige, but I think you gotta come up with a new spells thing or something, like so that you can upgrade spells, that would make it the ultimate game. say, have their gas start at 10, then they can slowly upgrade it so they can use all their spells n stuff. but, to tell you the truth, sorry urine, I don't really like TS, the spells are just too dull and meh for me, so i think this can easily top it with a lil more work.

but yeah, i'd love to play with you some time, and maybe you can help me test and play my new map ;p System Strike, anyways, I'll hit you up online sometime gl

Alright Norm. Time to give you my rantCritical Analysis.
I shall go from the most unimportant to the most important

1. You really need a terraineer to help you with your terrain. It is very ugly. Altho this time... it seems balanced enough.

2. The mystery boxes are green. Since I've only played one game, you may have ur start locations randomized, and therefore the colors're always different (which brings me to the question.. why the heck are they randomized? it makes it a lil confusing :\) .. Green mystery boxes = hard to see in mini-map = no one fighting for them = no gameplay = :(.
A suggestion would be, would be to minimap ping whenever a mystery box appears .. however, that'd make the map like an arena type map.. which I'm not sure if that's what u want it to be...

3. I have no idea what reinforcement does.. does it make the units spawn faster?.. Please iterate IN-GAME. Also, there're a LOT of things that can be explained in-game.. But I think an in-game tutorial would help the map a lot.

4. Starting to get important now: Glitch: you can time ur Blade Fury/Aura spells so that you will never stop producing DTs, and the DTs will never go away.. so you can get like 50 DT's on the map =D..

5. Your spell effects are very random and too spammy. As with any games that has spells.. the spells themselves must be easily identified by people. In Temple Siege, notice that each hero's spell has their own unit explosion type. Although, no one would no exactly which unit I used for which, subconciously, you get used to hearing certain explosions = certain hero's spell.
Similarly, all my pre-spell effects are different... Considering Dark Mage only, her spell 2, 3, and 4 have completely different patterns, allowing people to know what's going on.
This is something you lack. Make your spells more noticable and more easy to identify
This would also give your "themed" spells (wind/fire/lightling) much more appreciation. i.e. Use only red explosions for fire, and blue for lightling..

6. again your Spells... But this time, their spell effects are way too spammy. It slows down the units underneath it. Altho it may be what you want, it is better to use burrowed units to give a more clean execution.
Your Shockwave spell, and Cyclone spells are primary examples of BAD spell effects... They lag the game, and just spams way too much.. It really ruins the game for newbies.. because they don't know wtf's going on.
Your cyclone spell, as I later found out, drains mana. Okay.... but why the spammy carriers?... Look at Psion's Void. it doesn't have such spammy things, but it creates 1 hallu death animation every 15 DC's, and the recall effect..., which is enough to let people know their mana's being drained.

7. Your Spells.. AGAIN.. In theory, they are okay... and trying combos is fun stuff... But one thing that I don't really like is how the game is very Magic Based (solely because that's where the game is fun at).. the point is, the Other tactics may be too irrelevant to the game in comparison... Altho in theory, your base's spawns should be able to suppress the other team.. but it really doesn't work that well.

8. Finally, your base spawns/creeps/whatever u call them. Altho, they can be controlled, they often act very weirdly and do not attack you. Resulting in broodlings just passing by and dying at the cannons, so you won't get kills. You need to fix how you order units, because it is really confusing.

yeah that's about it... There's one more thing which I really hate.. is that it is max 2v2. why is there a need for 4 comps :\

=) Input appreciated. You have some valid things that I will consider, but some of your points are based on not fully understanding the game, and that's okay because I'm sure you haven't played it 20+ times like some people have.

NOTE: I will be ignoring the first point you made about terrain because I have too much pride to ask for help in my maps. I am however, trying to work on better terrain, but I'm not the greatest at it so bear with me lol.

2. Yes, the mystery boxes are green and for some people it's difficult to see them on the minimap. That's okay because they're not suppose to play a significant role in the game. You might've noticed this or not, but the contents of the boxes is usually something that doesn't really effect the game at all. (Empty, +15 MP restore, Healing pad recharge, infuse, minion). Also I don't know why you think the locations are random >< North team is always yellow and orange and controls a red army. South team is always teal and purple and controls a blue army.

3. Reinforcements increases the amount of troops you get per spawn, and their survivability. I agree that I need to make that more apparent, as many people ask this question.

4. That's not a glitch. Most spells are stackable if you time them right.

5. I'm not sure how to handle this suggestion. I guess all I can say is that this game shouldn't be compared to yours in terms of spells. I tried to keep the spells pretty basic as terms as the 9 general abilities. (The shared ones - they are each spell of combo that lacks a Templar in the formula.) The other 10 spells available to a player are the unique spells given to you by the weapon you choose. These are the spells to pay the most attention to as they are different for each of your opponents.

6. From what I've seen, noobs actually LOVE spammy spell effects. One example I have is a first-time player who didn't bother to read much says "Wow, I only have 3 spells and they are not that great" Understandable for me, they're level1 spells after all. So I said. "Well, try casting 2 spells at the same time to get combos" He uses shockwave, and not even knowing what it does, he says "WHOA that's cool" and he proceeded to try every combo imaginable.

As for shockwave, it has that effect to keep the enemy inside of it longer - which makes the spell more useful against dagger/bow w/ stim.

7. A complicated aspect. Basically, when you play this game there are two optimal routes to go after: Character development or Army development. The troop commander is a pretty handy tool that can be used for quite a few strategies. Usually when you play this game, you will either have people who totally buff up their character, and have weak armies. Or people who invest everything into their army to pwn. You said that you don't think troops can suppress enemies, and this is far from the truth.

After the game progresses to ~tier 3 spawns it becomes very mass oriented. That is to say that both armies will focus on two things: Gathering their troops, destroying the other team's troops. The game at this point revolves heavily around attacking/defending troops against the enemy in order to gain a mass large enough to breach their defenses. When you finally attack the enemy base, it's a trade off. You hope to destroy their support beacon so that their army suffers a loss of force, but they gain EXP in the process. This is a crucial part of the game, and if you haven't experienced it- then you are missing out on a lot of the fun in the "Tactics" part. While spells are handy, it's impossible to win with just putting money into magic alone, so I wouldn't say that the game is too heavily based on magic, even though a lot of people think that my combo system is really cool.

8. Units have one or two orders. When they are not being commanded (Troop commander on no beacons) They attack whatever they feel like attacking - which is simulated via random suicide mission. When your troop commanded is on a beacon, the troops get patrol orders to that rally point, allowing them to defend or attack an area or gather. There are advantages and disadvantages to commanding and not commanding your troops, and again this is where Tactics comes into play.

The reason why it's only 2v2 is that each player controls troops generated for 1 computer. This makes it possible to gather 2 different masses, or for one person to use their men offensively while the other is defensive. If there were 12 available players, i would totally make this game 3v3, i really would. However, SC has it's limitations that I have to deal with.

Thanks again for your input.

Correction only one way to invest. Troops own all. If you Buff your troops you really can't lose. Your opponent must do the same or they will lose. Why? It is because characters can't fight high level spawn or the base effectively. Maybe real armor would help to fix this. Use gas and create a new option and for characters it helps tremendously balance it out with costs.

Exactly the problem. Too boring. Your so called weapon becomes a pos even if you up the crap out of him. Need to give gameplay more variety to make it more fun.

I'm gonna have to disagree with Norm about the game being mass oriented after tier 3 spawns. When I play against experienced players, they really had some creative tactics on attacking the base without troops. For example, one guy was archon and he made a straight charge to my base, using the 1d spell continuously to the point where he's invincible all the time. The temple was at half hp until my partner came in and drained his mana, which I totally forgot about.

Also, as rine, you could tank the shit out of the base cannons or just sneak into the back of their base and make a straight hit to the temple. Same thing with ling, you can use guards to attack the cannons or range the temple. These are different ways you can breach the defenses without using mass troops.

@killer_sss Characters can fight high level spawns and base effectively. Just takes a small investment into spells and you'll be fine. An example would be for rine to use the fbat spell, shield regen or bolt2 for archon, or just zz for ling. Not trying to bash or anything, but I'm just stating my opinion off ~50 games of this.

mine is off about 30 such games and ive pounded my hero with stat points and magic. its just not enough. The spawn will eventually own. if they put into reinforcements they get ranged spawn that you just cant fight not to mention spawn hp goes up drastically.

granted a hero can maybe go in and fight the temple like you say but he would never have that oppertunity if you up the spawn. Sorry but range spawns owns and zerg regenerate so if they mass long enough you cant kill enough to gain enough exp nehow. Even if the archon somehow manages all you need to do is kill his stupid pet and hes toast which means you and/or your partner can defend and let the spawn do the attack.
