I'm trying to make the weapon's effect look and act like the Dark Archon Death, but I can't make it work.

  • I've changed its palette from nothing to ofire.pcx.
  • I've made it "Use Full Iscript".
  • I've tried giving it an iscript and changing its graphic to a Dark Archon Death by replacing the grp in the exe.
  • I've tried changing its grp file and its iscript ID.

Absolutely NONE of the changes show up in-game. Help?

You probably didn't add the changes in correctly. :hurr: Changing the GRP would HAVE to show up, at least.

Or, if there is something weird happening that I don't know about, you could try sproling the DA death animation.

You wouldn't happen to have other programs with the mod open, like firegraft, would you? Try adding in the changes with only WinMPQ open, if you haven't already.

Nothing happened. Maybe the graphic is hard-coded or something...

Hmm, this would mainly be iscript work. Use whatever grp has the Dark Archon death for your weapon's grp in images.dat and in its iscript animation, copy the Dark Archon death to the weapon's death.

The weapon's iscript consists of several playfram's and waits. The weapon's death is basically the last few frames of its grp. Replacing its grp seems to not work for some odd reason.

That is impossible. However, you could try manually replacing the GRP in the MPQ instead of going through images.dat. (Copy the DA death GRP and put it in the MPQ renamed to whatever Plasma Drip's GRP is named.)

I've been modding some weird weapons. One of them has the Dark Archon's Death as the explosion, with an "imgol" opcode. I used another Iscript entry (one of the unknowns..... the 372 i guess....), and there I gave it the script of the Death, the last frameset. Then I modified the images.dat entry, the 448, the unused something of some missiles. There I changed the GRP file for the DArchon.grp and changed the Iscript for the 372. I didn't remap the colors of the explosion (ofire.pcx), btw.
Also I changed the sprites entry, to make the explosion only an image.

I don't know if you only want to make the explosion of Dark Archon as an explosion of some missile of some weapon, or if you need it as a trail, or a missile. If it's just an explosion, the process above should work fine. The image shouldn't be parented to any sprite or flingy.

Oh, and don't use the "Full Iscript" option!
