Windows Movie Maker Problem...

I am trying to split a 23-minute video of me into 3 8-minute sections, but if I import it onto WMM, it thinks the video is 23 seconds instead of 23 minutes... ah.. just watch it, and tell me if you think there is anything I can do. If it involves spending money in any way on another "movie maker program" count me out. If you need more info, tell me, and I shall give said info to you.

*Note* I know there is no sound. Reason 1: I don't know how to record my voice. Reason 2: Sound isn't necessary on this video.

*Another Note* What you've already read above this sentance is what is in the video description.

If this is an obvious problem then I have obviously not been able to figure out what the problem is.

File format... you mean like ".wmp" and ".doc"? It says it is a "VOB FILE". There is no .whatever

Yes file extension "file.wmv" etc. As far as I know Windows Media Player only supports .wmv (windows media video) and .avi file formats, for video anyway. Not sure what file format a VOB File is, but my guess is that Windows Movie Maker doesn't know what to do with that file. Do you have any way of saving the video in a different format? Or converting it? What did you use to get the video in the first place?

Also, the lack of ".vob" could be that you have "hide known file extensions" disabled in your folder options. But if other files have .doc or what ever after them than it is just an unknown file type.

Yes, I'll do that and get back to you on it.

The video would be from a DVD and in some type of MPEG-2 format.

Don't use windows movie maker if at all possible. Try Wax or another free alternative.

Would you list a few programs that I can use? I want it to be as newbie friendly as possible :ermm:

Beginner stuff? Probably http://www.openmovieeditor.org/
Haven't used personally but it looks easy enough and isn't buggy bloatware like windoze movie maker.

Oh, and http://www.zs4.net/

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
