I'm making an RPG and am stuck for monster ideas. Here's the current monster list:

Gremlin (Broodling): A weak but very fast monster. Melee.
Orc (Hydralisk): Short-ranged unit. Frequently appears alongside swarms of Gremlins.
Chaos Dwarf (Zergling): A fast enemy that tends to appear alone or in pairs. Require a lot of micro to defeat. (Using summoning spells to block them is recommended.)
Lesser Zombie (Infested Kerrigan): An undead unit. All undead have very fast HP regeneration and will retreat when injured.
Greater Zombie (Ultralisk): A stronger zombie.
Suicide Zombie (Infested Terran): Kamakaze undead.
Necromancer (Defiler): Summons various undead.
Abomination (Lurker): A giant undead spider unit. Tends to appear in groups.
Animated Statue (Zealot): An immobile enemy.
Quantum Mechanic (Dragoon): A unit with a ranged dodgeable attack which slows upon impact.
Ghost (Dark Templar): Capable of walking through walls and units. Hard to see.
Shrieker (Scourge): Randomly moves around. Emits a shriek when it gets near you, which attracts other monsters. No attack.
Grappler (Overlord): Randomly moves around. When it touches you, it slows you down and sticks onto you. Using a teleport spell or attacking the Grappler will cause it to un-grab you.
Demonic Construct (Reaver): Attacks with non-invincible Scarabs.
Demon Gate (Warp Gate): Summons various monsters.
Wind Hunter (Ghost): Weak enemy that can cloak.

Arcanus Fungus (Spawning Pool): Non-hostile monster which can boost your stats in exchange for XP.
Artificier (Civilian): Non-hostile monster which sells you stuff.
Nurse (Medic): Heals you in exchange for money.

Btw, it's a modded RPG, so any unit idea you can think of is possible.

I love the idea of having a building as monster Same for the Civilian, the only problem I see is that when I hear "monster", I think about "enemy"... why would an enemy sell me stuff?

Blind Scout (Scourge): They fly around and when you get hit by them, they signal your presence to a large amount of monsters by shouting loudly (include a nice sound effect?).

It makes perfect sense; you probably just don't follow it properly because English is not your first language.

Explain.

I use "monster" like D&D uses it to mean any non-playable unit.

Renamed to "Shrieker" and added.

Also, added a few other monsters to the list.

hmmmm, why not make Ultralisk an Ogre? it makes more sense than a Greater Zombie XD

also, how about using a vulture to make some sort of mounted rider (raider on horse) or something.

Ogres are humanoid so an ultralisk wouldn't work for them.

@vulture: Dislike, I'm going for more realism than that. Plus you can't micro against a vult unless I really nerf their speed, which totally defeats the purpose of it being a vulture in the first place. >.>

Ice Elemental: Fast moving unit; generally found on its own. Utilizes two attacks: a longer ranged aoe spell that slows down all units in a certain radius and a close ranged icy claw attack ;o

Poison Lord: Infects its minions around it with a poison (irradiate or something) similar to the witch doctor's (diablo 3) locust swarm ability and fires slow moving poisonous clouds which damage anything under them.

But a hydralisk would be considered a humonoid (orc)? your logic amazes me. this is sc

On this note, you could use regular DA as a Fire Lord. It could spew flame absolutely everywhere a la incendiary blast from IC, but spewing (randomly) EVERYWHERE.

? (Dark Archon): Divide himself into 3 pieces which must all be defeated in order to kill it. If one of the piece if highly damaged, it'll try to consume an ally to gain health.
? (Archon): Easily scared, it shoots scarabs that micro you (hit and run). These scarabs are pure electricity which hurts you when it touches you. They have very low hp (both scarabs and caster).

For the Zealot, what I find weird is the fact that it's named "Animated" and that he's described as "Immobile"

Good ideas, people. TZ like.

Hydras are the right size and have arms, so they are close enough for me. Whereas the ultra looks nothing like an ogre.

@payne: It's only partially animated, I guess. >.> If you want I can change it to a "Glyph of Warding" (beacon).
