I was at the beach and I brought my camera with me, I had already taken quite a few shots already yesterday and in the morning so in the afternoon that I was testing stuff I took one shot and it was all good then I took another one and the camera said Error #2, I didn't care much, I turned it off and then on and it said that the card was not formatted with the camera and that I had to format it, normally, I was like SCREW YOU I AM NOT FORMATTING, I turned off again and took out the SD card from the slot, then put it back in.
It worked, I could take 3 more shots before I got the error again but this time taking out the SD card didn't fix the issue as I would have expected.
So I was hoping that when I returned home I could use my SD -> USB thing to plug the SD card and extract the photos (like I normally do).
I double click the F:/ drive (the one with the Sd card, obviously) and it says INSERT DISK or whatever that error is.
I right click and select browse and does the same thing. I then tried looking at the properties and it said 0bytes used out of 0bytes available. I was like WTF? since this is a 4GB SD Card. I provide a screenshot for the lulz.
I then, did things "correctly as I should" and inserted the SD card back into the camera and plugged in the camera and not the SD card, recognizes the camera I click "import images" and it fails. Tried with the canon software of the camera, and to my surprise, it didn't list any images (no way!).
Note that when I plug in the camera I can access the drive but there's no content on it unlike plugging the Sd card which I cannot access at all.
So I go on a hunt for a data recovery software and try somes without achieving success.
Now I am here SEN asking for your omghalp. There's a lot of valuable compositions in this camera, most likely the week of vacations I had and a lot of other random shots and this weekend (about 800+ shots actually) that I do not feel like losing.
Note that the camera is new,it's a Canon EOS Rebel XS, got it on august 31st and chances are that the SD Card the package included is probably really bad, I cannot afford thinking that there's something wrong with the camera....
fuck you all
