Here is a small list of maps I'd like to see articles on. Italicized means I'm considering doing the article myself:

Raccoon City - classic
The Undead - MOTW
Desert Strike - MOTW
Aeon of Strife - classic
Temple Siege - classic or MOTW
Basketball - classic
Rush - classic
Egg Ball - up&coming or gem
NFL Blitz - classic
Spellsword - classic
Labyrinthos - classic
The Puzzling - classic
Hero Wars - classic
Custom Hero Wars - classic
Phantom - classic
Snipers Bald Locks - classic
A Day at School - classic
Fyveren RP - classic
Impossible Scenarios - classic
Tron - gem
Armored Core - gem
Cat & Mouse - classic
Heaven's Last Stand - classic
Helm's Deep (vAnnatar?) - classic
Tarpit Defense - classic
Lurker Defense XYZ - MOTW
Amazing TD - classic or MOTW
*your favorite* civilization/diplomacy - gem

Also, instead of just having them just be 'classics' I want take it a step further. It will instead be its SCUMS Hall of Fame section, with 1 inductee every issue.

Jeeze guys.. only suggesting your own maps won't do your reputation any good =.='

Here's the list I suggested to Drant for the SCMOTD ... You can probably put these under Classics or Gems

  • A Day at School - Classic
  • Falling Tiles
  • Firebat Tag - Classic
  • Oozing Blob - Gem
  • Froggercraft 2000 - Classic
  • Sunken Defense 2 ways - Classic
  • Sunken Defense 6 ways - Classic (these 2 are very hard dispite their ancient-ness)
  • Random Micro Challenge X - Gem
  • Penguin Warz - Classic
  • Worms - Classic
  • Mario Party SC 1 and 2 - Classics
  • Nuke the Whales (v perfection) - Classic
  • Battle.net Experience :P - Gem
  • StarSmart - Gem
  • Spellsword RPG - Gem
  • Galactic Gunnerz - Gem
  • Competition Bound 1 or 2 - Classic
  • Hydra Arena - Gem
  • Fuel Tactics Arena - Gem
  • Random Fighterz Chaos - Classic
  • Blood Pressure Marathon
  • VolleyBall (MA/azala/or devilesk's ver) - Gem

Half the maps I suggested were not made by me. Get your facts straight.

Considering only 1 will be put in every other week, I think we have enough suggestions. I'd rather someone say they are writing 1 article on 'x' than 10 people give 100 suggestions (at least as far as classics go, still plenty of room for gems/MOTW)

Also, I think any articles written for the zine should automatically be put into the map review thing we have in the DLDB. The zine will benefit and the DLDB will also benefit.

Maybe we should just take submissions only from the review section of the site? So if people want to get a review into the zine they'll have to submit it here http://www.staredit.net/?p=reviews where it will then be selected to put into the zine.

You'll have more than enough maps when the RPG Contest ends.

Only writing reviews on RPG's would be lame. Anyway even though everyone knows about the contest and it seems like everyone has signed up with a map, I'm sure only a small handful will ever get finished :P

Your expectations seem awful high.

On the other hand, I really like your idea for reviews/dldb being aided by the zine.

The sword and the faith

Fey is not a classic and I resent that you put it up as one. Ticondera is a classic, Skorm is a classic, but Fey is too new to be a classic.

Also, I request that if an article on RE:RC is to be done, I be the one to do it, as I know the history and inner workings of it.

I've kinda been waiting for you to do one for a while now, but I just keep hearing you only call dibs.

What about all of "E.x.c.i.t.i.n.g"'s maps?

Classics?

None.

We live in a society.

Honestly, unless you are planning to write it up and want to confirm it with CAFG, I think we can wait the two years of article's worth of classics that we have already before discussing what is and is not a classic map.

Really? Temple Siege is now a classic? I think that's pretty extreme for a map that fairly new...

As far as RP maps go, Ticondera Summer deserves mention. It's one of the highest quality older RPing maps out there.

Also, I am willing to do an article on Raccoon City v X (as that's what most people seem to play these days). I'm sure I could do something satisfactory for the magazine purposes.

Also, Kill Me by Tuxedo Templar?

I am appalled that you would recommend a map stealer's version to be mentioned positively in an institution such as the SENzine. SEN does not support stolen maps, and as we have pointed out countless times on this forum, Johnny did not have permission to edit the map.

I guess you should be appalled that the public prefers the easier stolen map.

I am indeed.
It just goes to show you how ungrateful and disrespectful the general Bnet public is. We like to think we have something a little better than that here on SEN.

I agree. Yet another reason why Bnet is and has always been the bane of almost everything I've done with map making.

But be careful with this line of thinking. People have a 6th sense for agendas. Even well-meaning ones. Credibility stands to be lost by filtering or biasing map reviews on any arbitrary set of principles. Especially if your want your audience to include said bnetters.

(Though I suspect they wouldn't care much either way. :P)

Anyway, just throwing that in for consideration.

No. Go die in a fire plz.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value
[2024-5-06. : 5:01 am]
Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Ultraviolet -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
[2024-5-06. : 12:51 am]
Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
