I have some issues that have been bothering me.
I am a beginner Map Maker trying to make a Ground Warfare only map with Narow straights and ledges for a massive blood bath. BUT, I cant get the Computers to cooperate.
Right now I have the 4 Computer Starting Locations at the bottom of the map on force 2, with Random Starting Locations turned off for all forces. Normal triggers unchanged (to my noob eyes) from a melee maps settings.
Every time I start the game up in multiplayer with Use Map Settings, I start in my right spot but there are no computer units and the game ends instantly with a victory for me.

Im guessing I'm missing some important triggers or AI Scripts, but i honestly have no idea. I've been reading up on this problem for the past week now and have had no luck. I even read the StarCraft Campaign Editor Help Guide Tutorial on setting up triggers, but nothing seems to help.

All I need to do on this map is Make the 4 computers start at the bottom of the map every time, work like melee computers but harder and more relentless (Insane AI Script I think), and the human players start at the top every time.

Any input would be GREATLY Appreciated!

if you're trying to run this as a melee map its not going to work the way you want.

i think you want for the computer to have a cmd center and miners.

it wont do that on a ums map unless you place them there. or i believe theres a bug where you can set a players races as "user selectable" and it'll do that

though i may be interpreting your post wrong ><

Okay, first things first, do you have any buildings pre-placed for the computer? If not, place their starting buildings (command centers, hatcheries, nexuses) and workers . The reason why you have to do this is because you're using UMS, meaning everyone won't automatically get their starting buildings and junk. Now once you're done that, you're going to need to place separate locations over each of the starting buildings and make it so the location includes the buildings and the start location, I think that's all you need. Now once you have a location over each separate computer player, you're going to need to do some trigger work in order to get them to do something. Go into the Triggers tab and create a new trigger. Select one of the computer players and then go to the conditions part. Put always and then go to actions, and go to run ai script at location. Pick the appropriate AI script (you want to pick the race that the computer is and select the insane AI) and choose the location so it matches the computer player you chose at the beginning. Once you're done, just click finish or done and the computer should do something hopefully. Do that for all four computers. Hopefully it should work. =O Also, make sure that the computers have some kind of resource to use.

No I'm running it in a Use Map Settings form and the game ends instantly with a victory for me.

The computers are the problem for me, either the triggers are all wrong or the AI scripts are not in place and I wouldnt know how to tchange those Scripts, but i can modify triggers if some one could give me some advice.

Actually, I dont think i know how to create locations around the computer areas but ill check it out.

do what ultimo said.

a little map making trick i like to use to debug a map, is using text msgs. on your ai insane script trigger, add a msg that says like "testing comps"
or of course you could have it kill a building in your vision. the point is just to check if the trigger is firing. then you would know that the conditions are being met (though if the conditions are "always" idk how they couldnt be met) and that theres somthing wrong with the action, for what ever reason its not firing.

so i would go through the triggers with ai scripts on them and check to see that they are checked for the player, conditions are being met, and actions are approiate to the computers location. also be sure that the computer has the units it needs.

Yes, the starting buildings and workers are set now.
I know how to do the trigger set AI Script thing im pretty sure, i did alot of reading on it, but i dont know how to set locations for the trigger to run in.

What editor are you using? You choose the locations in a drop-down box if you're using SC X-tra or SCMDraft. It's near the top left.

ok just found it out before i read your reply.

Going to do that for all of them just like you told me too.
My actions in one of my triggers for a protoss comp is
"Execute AI scrpit 'Expansion Protoss Campaign Insane' at 'Location 0'.

Im gunna be asking more about these Triggers and stuff later because this modification to the game is remarkably fun.
