Since there is so much heated discussion about the MBS (Multiple Building Selection) why not do this:

Create a set of triggers or a mod (that can be applied to any Pro melee map) that effectively creates an artificial MBS in SC:BW.

I'm a little rusty on the map editor (and I never was really that good), but I could see it something like this:

Current player creates factory, set switch 1.

switch 1 is set - any more factories created will be moved (to some place on the map and unusable) and a placeholder will be created, set switch 2.

switch 2 is set - current player spends X at factory, copy action to all available moved factories.

if a place holder is destroyed take away a factory.

etc, etc.

This would take some really clever triggering which I could probably figure out if I hid in a cave for a month. (no offense mappers, I just suck at switches).

Anyways, The goal would be to have 1 factory, barracks, starport, hotkeyed to 1 key and build more that 1 unit at 1 button press.

If anyone can do this please do it!
If everyone starts to play it they can see the pros and cons of MBS without just 'theorycrafting'.

PS- I'm not sure if this can be properly emulated with triggers or not, But it can surely be done with a mod right?

Yes, this would have to use a mod, as you can't 'copy actions' with triggers.

You could copy the trigger and just change the factory each time. I'm not that's what he means though.

MBS? Never heard of it. :P

'copy action to all available moved factories'

No actions for that.

uh how about just using regular triggering but making it less capable? like:

p1 controls x factories
---p1 creates 1 siege tank
---p1 accumulates * ore
---Switch "p1 multi-build" is set
------subtract * ore from p1
------create x-1 siege tank at "unit production"
------display text "+1 tank from multi factories"
------minimap ping at "unit production"
------preserve trigger

yeah it would take a bunch of triggers to make it work and it would have it's limitations but is in essence the same thing right? or did I miss the point? then you could just hot key 1 factory and make 1 siege tank and it would make a siege tank for all the extra factories you had. There could be some other tweaks and additions but it would look cool in a simple melee game I think. :) What do you think?
