Doom 3 RPG
Ok i just started replaying Doom 3 and loved it so much i decided to make a map off it,

So...I can't say much right now except I will be using most doom3 weapons and monsters. That and I may need a doom 3 expert to tell me about a few main characters...

Also if I could get my hands on the "setup" for showcasing like we had on SEN v4 I would be very happy.

My Scratchpad (aka possible additions to map):


Classes:
-Marine (starts with a good balance of upgrades and if i add it: a medium sized armor aka VHP)
-Commando (Starts with high attack and low defense and low armor)
-Cyborg (Starts off with good defense, low attack)

FEATURES:

Ammo (this is doom3 so its a freakin given!!!)
Ammo system will be added

Virtual Hit Points
To create the "armor" you get in doom 3 I may install Virtual Hit points which will also add to the realism(aka blood)

Dropship Weapon and Spell system
I have set up a nice dropship system for weapons and spells.

MISSIONS:

Doom3 Mission 1
(Part1)
-Find out what happened to the UAC Mars Facility
(Part2)
-Make your way back to the ship

Doom3 Mission 2
(Part1)
-Explore this section of the facility
-Search for a possible Command Post
(Part2)
-Defend Command Post while trying to establish a communication line with Earth
(Part3)
-Defend until the marines arrive

Doom3 Mission 3
(Part1)
-Travel to Marine Command and find Bravo Squad
(Part2)
-Escort the surviving men Bravo Squad members back to Headquarters

Doom3 Mission 4
(Part1)
-Escort the engineer to Alpha Squad’s position

Nice idea, I have some suggestions for classes...

Marine (medium class, not really special but easy to use)
Scientist (insanely weak, but has cool special abilities)
Mechanic (slightly stronger than scientist, is able to maybe reprogran robots or get into robot suits)
Commando (incredebly strong but insanely low defense)
Guard (opposite of commando, low attack and high defense)

hope you like them, I can think of some more later

Lol...I dont know about scientist or mechanic but others seem good only I think Guard might be called Cyborg.

What will you be using for the "cool" stuff? Like items and item selection, spells and spell selection (never played Doom 3, spells / special abilities etc.).

EDIT: Yeah the virtual hitpoints part was kind of the direction I was heading with this post.

Well the servivors wouldn't just be military, I would rename mechanic as janitor! :D

PS: by abilities I mean like a chemical boom or a tame spray

I know some of this has nothing to do with doom, but just a few ideas that could help ya out deathman.. =/

MISSIONS

Possible missions..

Mission 01: Marine Specialist [?]
- Reboot Communications uplink to send out a rescue distress signal.
- Soon as communications has been rebooted, protect the computer till droids are online to protect it.

Mission 01: Special Operative [?]
- Find Scientist Lab and destory all research data.
- Kill all surviving Scientist located in area.
- Recover any data disk found within labs.

Mission 01: Cyberoptic Droid [?]
- Evac any civilians with sector.
- Escort them to Evac Point.
- Protect Evac Point when all Civilians are there, attacks will happen.

Mission 01: Civilian [?]
- ?? Can't think of anything..

JOB CLASSES

Classes playable through out the game.

Marine Specialist
- Machine Gun, Moderate Damage
- Combat Armor, Medium Protection
- Endurance Training, Longer Survival Rate
- Special Tactics, Grenade, Barricade, Bombardment

Special Operative Marine
- Shotgun, Heavy Damage
- Combat Armor, Light Protection
- Operative Training, Can hit critical points on enemies
- Special Tactics, Grenade, Sniper, Vanish

Cyberoptic Droid
- Tactical Machine Gun, Low Damage
- Metal Combat Plating, High Protection
- Tactical AI, ??
- Special Tactics, Tactical Overload, Destructive Burst, Repair

Civilian
- Pistol, Low Damage
- Standard Armor, Low Protection
- Basic Tactics, Basic Survival and Combat Training. (Most likely die easy)
- Special Tactics, Panic, Shoot Shoot!!, Stun Gas

SPECIAL TACTICS

Explains what each skill does and so on.

Grenade
- Player throws a grenade at enemy doing X by X radius damage causing minor to heavy.

Barricade
- Takes a near by corpse and uses it as a body shield protecting marine from damage.

Bombardment
- Firing non-stop machine gun fire at a spot and causing heavy damage.

Sniper
- Single heavy shot killing a target or Seriously wounding the target.

Vanish
- Hiding from enemies for few seconds to ambush.

Tactical Overload
- Sends droid on a frenzy attack causing massive damage to enemies and allies.

Destructive Burst
- Launches a destructive missile at enemies.

Repair
- Self repairs armor to XX%.

Panic
- Increase armor % for few seconds.

Shoot Shoot!!
- Fires rapidly at an enemy.

Stun Gas
- Special type of grenade that stuns an enemy for few seconds.

Just about the missions: I get the feeling you think of this as a 1 player map, its supposed to be a multiplayer.
Spells: Look good, I might leave out anything that stuns enemies because I don't quite remember having an enemy ever stop...especially when they have that damn shotgun which blows u back and covers ur face in blood making it almost impossible to hurt them.

Civilian had stun, he just has a pistol... Shotgun was to Special Operative. Whom use's a shotgun with a sniper ability. =/ Strange I know but its possible in close range to mid range combat. Was just ideas deathman random thoughts from my so called stupid brain.

for gods sake can i have some feedback on the missions??? I had them whirling in my head since i started.

POSSIBLE SPOILER IF YOU HAVENT PLAYED DOOM3:
-This team of marines will most likely end up finding the marine you play as in Doom3...and may have a nearly fatal encounter with betruger.

OK I finnaly fixed up my ideas. I had been having problems with my damn dropship system but playing with ideas for 15 minutes fixed everything.

Ok I just ran into a sinkhole. Is there any way to add an ammo system using only a damned scoreboard? I am gonna use mins/gas for my skills.

Why make classes for Ðoom 3 maps,
The only difference is the weapon dmg, so just make weapons for the game, no classes [Ðoom 3 does NOT USE CLASSES]
