Two forum games ONLY - Proposal

This is pretty ridiculous right now there are six forum games in the Null forum, and they're the most posted in topics. I understand that some people enjoy getting post counts and playing a silly game but six? Six. You need six threads where you can post something that doesn't contribute to anything at all. I don't see why there needs to be more than 2 forum games. And I'm including "WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO???" because it's an equally useless topic. I'm posting this topic to see what people think about my idea. I don't see a reason for there to be that many forum games. Why not just take a vote on which ones should stay and then keep those there but other ones are not allowed.

The six I'm talking about are: Kennings, What the heck are you listening to?, Avatar Game, Word Association Game, The /\ < \/ game, Corrupt a wish!. In case anyone is wondering.

Null is the only forum where posts shouldn't count. If that were so, I'd have no problem letting people have as many forum games as possible. Besides, I think mapping is going to be kind of sparse until SC2 comes out.

I don't even post regularly in Null so I don't really care. Let the idiots spam and get their post counts up, it's meaningless.

If they're different types of games then there's no problem.

Post count means nothing in v5. There are no elite groups. It doesn't factor into any equations.
And a post is a post, regardless of where it is. Thus, post_count++;
So I say, let them have their fun. I've been closing null games left and right, using my own critieria about what should stay open. I'll continue to do so :) (corrupt a wish was pretty damn borderline as to what I would close).

Well feel free to share that criteria IP.

And whether or not it's meant for spam there should be a line, in the case that someone has a topic that shouldn't be anywhere but Null but actually has worth to it (Unlike some other things) it's going to get lost between all the crap. There may not be elite status or anything like that but you're wrong if you think just taking that away will make people not care about their post count. They'll just use numbers instead "I have 10,000 posts" or "I have 569 more than you obviously my opinion matters more."

Right now you're pretty much saying I could go in there and make 12 topics about forum games and as long as they "fit criteria" they can all be in there. Maybe I could make enough so it fills up the entire page and I'll post in all of them anything a new topic is posted, does that sound fair?

What if I just hide post count? As it means nothing anyways. Hell, I'm actually liking that idea.
And shouting count as well. No need for it. What do you think?

The criteria... is kinda hard to explain. I just see a game and think to myself, is this really a game? is this completely worthless? and blah blah. Like that music topic? I like music, sometimes I go in there and browse around... see what other people are listening to, especially people that tend to listen to things I listen to. Last time we had a discussion about said music topic (should it be closed/whatever), other people said the same. The < ^ \/ game. It's alright. You are (maybe/possibly) telling something about yourself and the top person and random guess at the bottom person... so it might have some educational value to it about other members. Maybe a tiny bit, if anything at all, sure. The avatar game = stupid. Corrupt a wish = even stupider. Both of those I wanted to close, but left them open for... actually no reason. Go ahead and close those if you wish. Word association can be somewhat fun, though it gets really stale after awhile. And I forgot what Kennings was. Ah... that game is somewhat "creative" so I let it be.

I don't want there to be a lot of stupid topics in null, yes.
However, SEN isn't going to be some ultra-strict website.

Hmm... to summarize:
If a game in null has no content value at all... if there is no creative thinking involved... and if it's not fun / funny... it should be closed. Guessing games, topics that X post means something, post a random response topics are generally great to close.
Examples:
How will the person above you die? Random bullshit.
The "You're banned!" game! Random bullshit.
Drink 'till your'e drunk... Post X means something.
Your smash moves. Random bullshit.
What am I? Random bullshit.

Hope that helps.

Three cheers for IP!

If it isn't denoting anything useful, that's probably a good idea.

I do think, as always, we could use some status number indicator at some point though.

How about a subforum entitled "Forum Games" where they can make whatever retarded games they want?

Unfortunately, it seems like the Null has deformed to basically an area for Forum games, and nothing more. =\

Corrupt a wish = even stupider.
Agreed. None of the said 'wish corruptions' even have to do anything with the previous wish (i.e. 'I wish x would stop having a Pokémon fetish.'
'Granted, but you get sued.' Wtf).

Member ID and join date works for me, although it would be nice if we could use our original SeN join-dates if we remembered them (August 21, 2005)...

Well, there were lots of people with join dates circa December 2003 that almost never posted, so that certainly isn't flawless. I agree though, joining communities it's nice to be able to see a quantified status.

June 9, 2004; but then numbers like that can't be trusted to be remembered accurately. It will dissolve to the small core of people here from the v5 relaunch soon enough anyway.

I could probably make a script that allows you to hack your join date to the original by doing some comparasions to the old v4 database. This would most likely be limited to being the same email address with the same name.
