Map Description
Genre: RPG/Third-Person Shooter
Players: 4 (HIGHLY recommended full house)
Basic plot background:
The year is 2113. Earth is literally torn by war. Mexico and the US have been separated due to repeated bombings of Texas. The countries of the world had disputes amongst themselves, causing them to split into provinces, simply called "groups." International and civil war mingle.
A primarily German group led by Blagden Dietrich, called "Kämpfende Messer," or "Fighting Knife", seems to be gaining power more quickly than other groups. This is where the squad comes in. Quebec Squad fights for the Broadsword group, a North American faction. The squad is taken by airlift to a small base in the South American jungle. A main Kämpfende Messer base is nearby, so the fighting is long and fierce. Their mission: Find Kämpfende Messer's secrets and eliminate the base completely, but what the Broadsword squad discovers is much more than superior weapons or armor...

Characters:
Name: Sgt. Jack "Psycho" Sullivan - Quebec 1
Role: Squad leader, primary rifleman (Jim Raynor (Marine))
Abilities:
-Call airstrike, destroys everything in a fairly large radius, the downside is that nothing is destroyed until the bomber reaches the target from the base, and it can't be used again until the bomber lands and resupplies.
-Call medivac, picks up squad members and returns them to the nearest base, but the squad must survive until the transport arrives.
Personal: Earned the nickname "Psycho" from past conflicts, known to be an enthusiastic fighter and overzealous with air support. Of British-Canadian ancestry.

Name: Corp. Tom "Kilo" Saarsgard - Quebec 2
Role: Squad sniper, recon and range support (Alexei Stukov)
Abilities:
-Snipe mode, Kilo's damage and range improve, but hitpoints and mobility are sacrificed. Kilo cannot move in snipe mode.
-Infrared binoculars, spawns an observer overhead. Kilo cannot move while using infrared binoculars.
Personal: Boasts of killing targets from kilometers away with a single shot. Easygoing.

Name: Spc. Jozef "Flint" Armand - Quebec 3
Role: Squad demolition engineer (Gui Montag)
Abilities:
-Timebomb, destroys anything on the ground in a relatively small radius ten seconds after being set.
-Tripwire mines, makes a small line of bombs that detonate when enemies approach, destroying nearby ground units in a small radius. Ineffective on buildings.
Personal: May be a pyromaniac, always carries flint and magnesium. Oldest member of the squad. Of Russian and Arabian ancestry.

Name: Spc. Erik "Murse" Thatcher - Quebec 4
Role: Squad medic and mechanic, secondary rifleman (Samir Duran)
Abilities:
-First aid, heal up to five nearby infantry units.
-Vehicle mastery (passive), any vehicle Murse pilots becomes a hero.
Personal: Strange nickname "Murse" comes from his previous occupation as a male nurse. Shares a strong bond with Corp. Saarsgard.

Features:
  • Teamwork is a must
  • Unique, useful abilities will be needed everywhere
  • FIVE pilotable vehicles, which are imperative to survival (notice that the only one who could do any damage by just shooting at a vehicle is the squad leader), and as such, are accompanied by an awesome fancypants vehicle system (in excess of 100 triggers), which will be revealed in the demo
  • Incapacitated team members aren't dead until you are: Bring a body to the hospital to revive your squad mate
  • Story-driven gameplay! :O
  • MOAR!

  • Revival: Found a few bugs thanks to multiplayer testing, but now it's pretty good. The only one that I've found that can still happen is caused by other players being assholes.
  • Vehicles: Only a bunch (by bunch I mean SHIT-TON) of trigger copying before it's demo-ready!
  • Gameplay
  • Unit naming: Almost done
  • Unit placement: Hardly anything
  • Terrain: Hardly anything
  • Missions: Un-started
  • Balance: Un-started
  • Other
  • Topic: Only as done as the map is
  • Overall: The core is coming along nicely, but I still have a lot to go. Perhaps 10% complete.

Idea that needs feedback, people:
Since this map is kind of a third-person shooter, it's going to get really hard really fast when the enemy numbers start growing. I'm thinking of throwing in a feature that reactivates auto-aim (temporarily) when you get yourself into enough trouble. Yes? No?

Looks interesting, but there are already at least 2 maps in my folder named Squad Tactics, both different. It's an OK name, but just too typical.

Yeah, Squad Tactics is just the working name, like Project Revolution for the Wii, except the real name will actually be cooler. :P

LOL!!

anyway.. this seems really cool. You just gotta be careful that you nail the game play AND finish the RPG...
Don't make the squad member too high HP (or at least not at the beginning) .. Force more on strategy ;)

you should also Do bosses.. do some that have ridiculous high HP or something..
and do some that has their own squad.. that'd be cool

You can also set a reaccuring rival squad XD with 4 other personalities.. that'd be even cooler...

It's not, actually. It's AMURICAN.

Three of the four playable characters are not Canadian. The map takes place in South America. It is made by someone who isn't Canadian. Don't you be callin' it fail, or I'll boot you from the tester list. <.<

Airstrikes are sexy :) . However, the bad thing about them is I actually took the time to airstrike the entire mainbase, and even the airstrip where the airstrike pilots are launched, and even killed Fatal while testing with him. Of course though, I was a dick and brought his unconscious body out into the jungle and left him there.

Yeah, I haven't made it so you can't target airstrikes inside the base yet. :P
