Alright, so there are 4 forces in physics:
gravity
electromagnetism
strong nuclear force
weak nuclear force
I thought this would make a really good battle map, where you can use the forces against your opponent or even towards yourself, it might have to use some really advanced systems. But things like gravity could be the hold position command w/ hyper trigs, strong nuclear force could be like stop command, and then have like energy reserves and such.
Electromagnetism would get tricky if you start playing with polarities.

Actually, I think I'd love to do this with SC 2, because it actually has a physics system I can play with.

I dont really think the physics in Starcraft 2 were pointing in that direction..

True, but they have a gravity system.
Electromagnetism can be implemented with order triggers, gravity would be weakest, that is hold command so they cant still attack but drains little energy. Weak nuclear force would be like interceptors or scourges rushing out at random places around you. Strong Nuclear force would be a stop command, so they can't attack or anything.

It's an interesting idea no doubt, you could do a pretty accurate physics simulation in Warcraft3, there's plenty of physics demos of balls bouncing off walls and stuff, the game has in-built trigger ecuations and people used them to recreate physics formulas or parabola functions to make a smoothly arcing jump, you can easily move an object in any direction too so that helps. This and more should be in SC2, so no worries about that I think.

In SC1, I dunno, some binary calculator stuff maybe for the ecuations? Movement will be pretty choppy though, if you go the way of using grid stuff anyway, I wonder if modding would help.

It's possible to do most physics effects in SC, including parabolas, but it's just really annoying to set up.

I'm not worrying about what systems I have to use, I know it is possible.

You're better off waiting for SC2 to come out.

Akar, your Sons of War website is offline. At least I can't connect that is.

I think most of effects of the 4 forces could be creating in Starcraft pretty accurate, and since you say you know how I'll take your word for it. However what I'm even mor interested in is what exactly you would want to do with those effects? Create nice-looking cinematics, player controlled battles with an extra touch of realism, or neat spells, or what?
Meh.

One thing I'm a fan of is small maps that are lots of fun. But there is room for lots of different upgrades, here's what I'm thinking of how this would work so far:
1. Gravity: Forces units to hold position, I'm thinking about having a 1 second wait time in between orders. It is the weakest one, because units can still attack, but uses least amount of energy to use, around 1 energy (gas) per second. 1 HP per second affected.
2. Electromagnetism: A real fun one to play with, once activated you have a choice between positive and negative polarities. Depending on if the other person is in your area of effect and has electromagnetism activated than if you are the same polarity you will repel each other or attract. This also attracts powerups to you. Uses 2 energy per second. This is also needed to open and close doors. 2 HP per second affected.
3. Weak Nuclear Force: This force will send energy out of you in random directions, uses 3 energy per second
4. Strong Nuclear Force: Using a whopping 5 energy per second you can hold someone down with the stop command with this and stop them in their tracks.
5. (gahahahaha) Unknown Force: Unknown, I'm just throwing out here for kicks. Ideas are welcome, very radical ideas.
I'm also adding upgrades that will increase your max energy, max HP, energy regen, area of effect, and strength of effect.
