Both artists have a unique style. It's which style you prefer. I like marxel's.

Marxels one form a really bad picture of a marine...
The tree however is unique and is well drawn, the lines work well, nicely shaded. Marxel's however has no shading just scribbles. |

Weeell... I'd went and doodled up something in MSPaint to demonstrate, and had a nice, decently-lengthed post ready to go, but then I decided it'd be better to just point out that... a ballpoint pen suffers from the same 'problem' as MSPaint. It offers little to no power for smooth gradients etc. The tree-blob is still shaded though. Assuming you don't use a tablet... MSPaint gives you a more awkard means to control, along with undo, erase, varying width tips, color choice ( gradients are easy to make when you can just explicitly tell it to use a darker shade ) , the fill tool, and, best of all, lowered expectations of viewers. People can get away with a lot when drawing without gradiented or transparent brushes, because people don't expect there to be a good picture, and so decent pictures are inflated into great ones in the mind. |

despite the crappy outlines that is probably 20x better then the marine and also made in microsoft paint, there is no excuse for just scribbling... |

The ballpoint pen is actually my favorite type of pen. You can shade with relative ease, it just depends on how much pressure you put on it. You can also cross hatch etc.

Well, that probably means I suck. Bigtime. Thanks or the criticism anyways. Not that I'm being sarcastic or anything. There's always room for constructive criticism and that's what I just want.
And if I have to explain myself- I actually like looking at "dirty" works. You know.. like it was just sketched or something... no erasures and just scribble... If you look closely though, you would see the same marine in the "Nuke" wallpaper in starcraft2.com. Well it's not really the same thing, but it's where I based my doodle. And because I just based it on another image It's not original and therefore, I phail .

Employee 1: "Well, I sent a fax, and the recipient called back to say all she received was a cover-sheet and a blank page. I tried it again, and the same thing happened." Employee 2: "How did you load the sheet?" Employee 1: "It’s a pretty sensitive memo, and I didn’t want anyone else to read it by accident, so I folded it so only the recipient would open it and read it." O.o |

Well, I was bored, so here's me...
jetfusion: Um, 2 on the Mario? Seriously, 5 is supposed to be 'average,' and that thing doesn't seem to have had any effort put into it at all. =X ![]() A tree I doodled in a couple minutes in Artweaver. I was bored, and I thought I would be to be going to the store about now, but my mother's still... not even getting ready. >-< |
