Hi.
Is there any way to have a customish wait trigger than doesnt disrupt hyper triggers?

I just want the trigger to be like this:
--Conditions
Current player brings unit to here
--Actions
Display "yay you're here" for current player
Wait 5000 Milliseconds
Preserve Trigger

But i dont want it to disrupt hyper triggers.
One way to do this better would be to do this: (player 8 is neutral)

--Conditions
Current Player brings unit to Location 1
Player 8 brings an observor to Location
--Actions
Display "yay youre here" for current player
Remove observor for player 8 at location 2
create observer for player 8 at location 3
order all observor for pl;ayer 8 at location 3 to move to location 2
preserve trigger

THe only problem with this method is that there needs to be 8 locations (2 for each of the 4 players that this needs to affects) that don't interfere with eachother, and that takes up like 30 squares of the map that I don't have or want the observers to be in.

Any other way to do a customish wait trigger?

thanks in advance! :)

EDIT oh and another thing, I use x-tra editor (special) and it won't let me rename switches 72 and on. Whats the deal with that?

EDIT ok i figured both problems out tx guys

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

You could use death counts. I haven't looked at a trigger editor in like a year, but I think it would basically be like:
== CONDITIONS ==
Player X brings at least 1 UNIT to LOCATION1.
Player Y has suffered at least 200 deaths of UNIT2.
== ACTIONS ==
Display text message: OMGLOLZ!
Set deaths of UNIT2 to 0.
Preserve trigger.

Then have a separate trigger for the deaths:
== CONDITIONS ==
Player Y has suffered at least 0 deaths of UNIT2.
== ACTIONS ==
Add 1 death of UNIT2 for Player Y.
Preserve trigger.

I'm sure the syntax is wrong, but that's the general idea. That way every time you hit that location, it resets the count to 0 and wont repeat itself until the second trigger hits 200 deaths.

Death counters can be used for timers.

Quote from Kenoli

Excellent, that will work just great.

Thank you! :rolleyes:

EDIT as for the switch problem, I just realized I used every single string in the map. Whoops. No big deal. tx guys

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch

2 ways to keep the waits: (though inferior to death counter usage, I'll mention them)
- Give the hyper triggers to a player that has no waits.
- Place the hypers under ALL players at the BOTTOM of the trigger list. This will only cause a wait block (disrupt hypers) if each and every player is executing a wait THE SAME TIME.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort

Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
