Hi all, I'm in the process of making a new map. A version with the error is attached for reference. I was changing some color codes in SCMDraft, now it's unable to be opened. I have backups so I'm not asking to repair the map, only to understand what's causing the issue so that I can avoid it in the future. Are some experimenting, I found that using the unit color code 18 consistently recreates the problem. What's confusing about this is that I have an old map where using color code 18 is perfectly ok. That old map has it's own problems of ccmu drop but I never ran into an error C issue with it.
Additionally the new base map was made by using SCPM5 to generate a stencil of western Europe, then I filled it in with real terrain. Is using SCPM also a stability risk? Additionally I generated an uncompressed map, because compressed was giving me an error. Yet another risk possibility is that I've been careless and ran SCMDraft from both 1.16 and 1.18.

I always have various problems with maps created through SCPM, so I just copy-paste the terrain from the SCPM map onto a brand new map created in SCMDraft2. Maybe doing that will help with your problem too?
What doesn't open it? Scmdraft seems to read it fine.
If it is just starcraft 1.18 that crashes when you select the map, you can try opening it in the normal scmdraft 0.8.0 version and immediately saving it.
E: StarCraft 1.18 also works fine for me. Newest PTR of 1.18 also is updated to not crash scmdraft anymore =)

Actually I think this happens when testing maps in starcraft. Sometimes after the map starcraft keeps the map file open. So you cant open it with any other program or save it if you already had it open. The way to fix this is simply close starcraft so it closes the the connection. I have no clue why this happens, but it happens to me about every 2 tests.

Talk about timing. I'll confirm that it's from SC keeping it open. It happened again, this time when I was hiding pylons under buildings. I tried to delete the copy, it said it was open. I closed SC, realized I could open it in SCMDraft.

I do believe its a PTR issue. SO if you get the 1.16 client ICUP is on. I dont think you will have this issue.
