No, not at all. At the moment, it is probably the memory type of choice. DDR3 is too expensive and is not supported by many motherboards.

Not at all. However, DDR and DDR2 and physically incompatible with each other both ways, so you must get the specific one that the motherboard supports. Also, buying online will get you a better price than Best Buy, unless they are maybe having a sale on it. When not on sale, the ram they have is typically 2 to 3 times the online price.
