This thread is created for ideas solely dealing with gangster Starcraft 1 maps. State your ideas for maps as such... or possible maps that you would pursue making that are gangster themed.

I made a map called Hobo Quest (incomplete) that was pretty much a GTA clone. I'll post it later since it's not on this computer, but it had stuff like prostitutes, wanted levels, and the like.

I don't really think that's much of a "gangster" map though.

There's Hobo Quest. Keep in mind I left it very unfinished so stuff like where to go and how to perform actions isn't really enumerated. There's also no traffic to steal from since the terrain was never finished. I finished, I think, five missions which are somewhat fully playable, but aren't integrated into the fully-fledged storyline I was going to make that'd consist of 20+ missions, so they're out of order at the moment, and probably will be forever.

Notes:

  • You can hire a prostitute by driving near them in a car and making, I think, a Scout. The controls from there-on are illustrated. Prostitutes heal you after done their services, and if you kill them you can get all your money back. :D
  • Missions are indicated by beacons, and can be started by making a Corsair on them.
  • There are 2 gun shops hidden in the city (was going to do four, but terrain was never finished) that can be entered. One of them is hidden in some alleyway.
  • When you die you lose 20% of your money (calculated via binary countoffs).
  • The more civilians/police you kill, the higher your wanted level will raise.
    • Wanted Level 1: Nearby police will be hostile to you (I think that I made it so they attempted to arrest you instead of shooting, but I never finished that).
    • Wanted Level 2: Standard HKPD (Hoboken Police Department) officers will actively seek you out.
    • Wanted Level 3: S.W.A.T. members will seek you out in addition to police. If I remember correctly helicopters will come as well.
    • Wanted Level 4: N.O.O.S.E. Enforcers (I think that's what I called them) will begin seeking you out.
    • Wanted Level 5: U.S. Army soldiers will begin seeking you out.
    • Wanted Level 6: U.S. Army tanks will begin to come after you. At this point you're pretty much fucked.
  • I don't intend to finish this. If you want info about anything just ask.

Yes I would consider those an honorable mention because the style of play is like that of GTA, Saints Row, etc. so anything with those qualities I would up them to this thread. The point of this thread is to work and brainstorm development of those games. :rolleyes:

You may want to take a look at Gigins' GTA map in the map database. It's what inspired Hobo Quest.

I'm working on a new set of 3D terrain specifically for 100% utilization of the terrain all the buildings will be buildings that you can enter and leave without the use of "move triggers."

What about the map Mafia? lols tho that's not really "gangsta"

The only relevant map that I remember (Other than Hobo quest ;)) is that GTA map.
I remember you can go around and steal cars, and you level up as well. You also have to do missions, but because it's "non-linear", people just fuck around and mess it up.
Also, if you die, u revive at the hospital.

I have no idea what it's called anymore :(




When you say "Mafia" and "Gangsters", you should be a bit more specific.
Like, do you want the players to be the gangster, be unavoidably caught up in gangster issues, or be someone who wants to solve the gangster problems by killing/arresting them?

There're more than enough maps and mainstream games about the player being the gangster. Games like L.A. Noire has an advantage just by giving the players a different POV (i.e. investigating crime rather than causing it).
Although I still think being mistakenly caught up in gangster wars is the most interesting.

Also, what sort of map are you looking for? RPG? PvP?
