When i was doing research for my best ways to die list i can upon so many different ways you can die (Link to thread). Some of these horribly gruesome, disturbing, funny, and down right strange. The most strange and gruesome of these deaths was an Tibetan funeral called "sky burial', this tradition is banned in many places and for good reason. China even banned it for sometime calling it barbaric. Some places though still practice it in certain places such as the town/city of Litang.
This tradition is usually handled by the local monks of the region.
Any who moving along with the actual burial; monks sometimes chant mantra around the body and burn juniper incense but this most times is done the previous day. In some accounts the whole body is thrown on the ground as is. But sometimes the body is stripped of all flesh, another variant is when the body parts are separated usually by a Monk or "Body Breaker". In either situation the body is then feasted upon by the hawks and vultures who have been waiting patiently.
If you think its finished you thought wrong, the bones are than ground up into a fine paste (usually by a Monk or "Body Breaker"). Then the body(s) are mixed with Tsampa a mixture which can include barley flour, yak butter, milk, sugar, and Tibetans favorite thing tea. These bones are then eaten by the vultures leaving nothing left.
