Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let me introduce you to:

JUST CAUSE 2
The sandbox game to end all sandbox games

Just Cause 2 is a game by Eidos Studio, and let me tell you, I have never had so much fun in a Sandbox game.
Forget InFamous, forget Prototype, and forget GTA IV (at least the single player portion), Just Cause 2 is a MASSIVE sandbox game that does something that's rarely seen in the gaming industry now - they put FUN before everything else

You play as Rico, a god-like person with an accent that has a Grappling Hook which defies all laws of physics, and can fart unlimited parachutes out of his ass. His mission is to cause as much Chaos in the island of Panau in order to weed out the people behind some sort of conspiracy.

Without ruining anything for potential players, I'm going to summarize what the overarching missions are like.
1. You explore locations, and cause Chaos by destroying all gov't items.
2. This will unlock side missions from 1 of the 3 gang factions that're currently trying to overrule the gov't
3. Doing these side missions give u more Chaos points which will unlock Agency Missions, which progresses the story.

Bringing down the statue for the toursists

What's great about this is that everything leads back to you... basically blowing shit up!
And with this game, it never gets old.

Remember how I stressed the word MASSIVE? Well, you know in GTA4, you get the entire liberty city as your playground. In Just Cause 2, you get the ENTIRE ISLAND. Sure, the copy-and-paint brush does occur time to time, but the sheer amount of things you can do with the various weapons, vehicles, and the grappling + parachute combo, you will find shit to do on every locale.

The map

and The Scenery
It's so beautiful..

This is even more true with the Mods.
Once you've gotten your hands on this awesome program called "BOLOPatch", you can fire multiple hooks to attach multiple things to other things... and make the hooks indestructible....
Just think for a moment of what's possible..

The People's Pinata!

Keep going..

Welcome tourists! I'll be your local tour today! First, I'd like to show you the beautiful foilage of Panau. I believe that the best way is to get face-to-face with the plants.

Get those destructive genes going.

Next, I'd like to show you all the beautiful aquatic life of Panau, which currently consists mostly of floating bodies.

Of course, I'm no expert.
There're professionals that do these things

If any of you actually have this game and are having trouble getting the BOLOPatch working, it is because they recently updated it and screwed the mod up. Fortunately, there's already a solution.

Anyways... this game is now only $20.00. Get the PC version (so u can use the mods). DO IT
This game is awesome. :awesome:

Of course, no game is perfect, and there ARE problems that I have with this game too

For example, the traffic is unrealistic. There's always about the same amt of cars everywhere at all times.
Another problem is that Black Market items (Vehicles, weapons) are far too expensive. Especially vehicles, b/c you crash them in like 2 minutes anyway...

But the biggest problem is them trying to balance the game.
First of all, guns have way too few ammo. I constantly run out of ammo, and have to try to grab enemy's guns. Unfortunately, that means going into the open and getting shot down. That makes me Not a happy camper

Also, even tho they Did focus on fun, they just couldn't get their AI right. Like in all Sandbox games, the enemies are always spawning in random places. Even if you thought u've cleared a place, they just show up behind you and shoot you down or get you to low health

Worst problem is that the grappling hook is actually VERY POOR in combat. Which I think is the worse blunder out of the game. The grappling hook should be the key weapon for this game, not the guns, because it is the signature weapon of the entire game. Yet, the only way you can really kill with the hook is by pushing them off a ledge from a tall building or a cliff... which is obviously situational and is not very useful.

Fortunately, all of this is remedied by the BOLOPatch mod. You will get unlimited and indestructible hooks, which will let you bounce people all over the place.
Thank god for the community.

How do you pronounce this? Is just like "I'm cool, why? JUST CAUSE." Or is it like "This is such a just cause to fight for!" I personally think the latter sounds cooler.

Just Here For The Pie

There truly is no real cause in the Just Cause games. You do what you do because you are a mercenary, and anything that gets caught in your wake is only just cause you felt like it.

I purchased the first game in early 2009 when Circuit City was going out of business. I got it for the price of 8USD new. It was an amazingly fun experience with many personal adventures. The game itself, however, lacked in missions. Sure, there was said to be 303 side missions, but it was the same three side missions just rehashed several times. Much grindage went into completing the game's gamerscore.

I was initially excited when I heard a sequel was announced. The game looked bigger, funner, and more beautiful than ever. Sadly, I decided not to buy it. Now, I cannot quite remember, but I am sure the money went to a more established title. :P

If I ever see the second game match the price I bought the first one for, I will buy it.

^Agree,

It's the kind of game that if I saw in a bargain bin for £5.00 I'd get it. Regardless of how amazing it is, blah blah blah, it just doesn't seem like it will hold my attention for longer than 2 weeks? Maybe a month? Also, sandbox games for me are never really that interesting. Unless they are truly 100% all encompassing of like everything and anything you will ever want to be able to do. Which, they never will be. So I'm content with RPGs, RTS, FPS and TBS. :)

Lord of the Locker Room

Doing a LP of JC2. I started on Hardcore and after the first Agent mission when I began running around in the open world I started dying a hell of a lot. I'm not really good at these "sandbox" games, ofc the "sandbox" name completely irrelevant in all the titles carrying it (I prefer "open world"), but I'm not terrible, either. Dying just because you drive past a guy and they suddenly aggro and glue onto your ass was not very fun. Everyone's telling me not to do it on hardcore because it's bullshit, and now I see why. So I'll start as normal.

Otherwise I like it so far.

I have no idea what this bolo patch thing is but I might check it out.

Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.

Look at it this way: They're chasing you just 'cause.

No, more like because they know that you're a douche and by killing you, they're doing it for a just cause. What kind of normal person goes around blowing up stuff, that doesn't sound like a just cause at all.

@Istakamesk

- Agreed. I totally had the same feeling. However, if you download the BOLOPatch, which is a trainer that changes the game while you play it, you can have infinite life, infinite ammo, inifite # of hooks, and indestructible hooks.
I've also downloaded mods from http://www.justcause2mods.com/

- With the amt of lulsy things to do WITH the BOLOPatch, I highly recommend you on getting it.
w/o the bolopatch, the game isn't even half as fun...
..which leads me to

@Cardinal

- Again, I agree. I've shunned sandbox game after I've played GTAIV. Most of the time, you only get the ILLUSION that you can do whatever the fuck you want, but it's not even remotely true. There's ALWAYS a "best way" of doing one thing, and you'll just get sick and tired of doing it over and over again.

- While experimentation in it of itself is nice, it is still limited to what the game can do

- This is one of the prime complaints that I have with this game. I can't believe they made the grappling hook so wimpy as a combat weapon. It should've been awesome. You can't even tie heavy vehicles to the ground on normal settings!! WTF? I WANT TO F'ING TIE A TRUCK TO THE SIDE AND WATCH IT FALL OF THE CLIFF, AND DANGLE AROUND LIKE A WRECKING BALL AND TOSS THINGS AT IT. WHY CAN'T I DO THAT??
IMO, the developers fell face first while working on "balancing" the grapple hook mechanics.

If they really felt SO INCLINED to make the game difficult, when the whole game should've been one big, fun as hell joke, they could've just made the hook Upgradable. So it STARTS off limited, and you get the feeling that you can upgrade ur hook to make it awesome so you can do lulsy things.

I can't believe they didn't tap into that. Awful. Almost like scoring a 100% on a test, then forgetting to write your name down. Ridiculous.

Again, everything is remedied by the BOLOPatch mod.

..
@Poison.
