:payne:

If we ported all of our conversations concerning the Wiki into a new thread created on B.net 2.0's forums, we'd ensure the activity keeps it at the top of the list, while advertising the wiki itself and possibly getting more writers.
Watcha think? :O

I don't think it is relevant to the bnet forums and they would probably lock it (rightly so in my opinion).

That seems like sleazy self-promotion to me. If we advertise the Wiki as an independent resource that always need updating, that's one thing. But we're essentially advertising SEN, which I don't think is allowed.

Oh god, how many times I've seen Sixen's UBER blatant advertisement of SC2Mapster? And I'm not on those forums often, I swear.
His topics never got locked.

That's because he's a MVP poster and he can do what he wants.

I don't know, I'm not sure... if we worded our topic in a way that promotes the Wiki more than it promotes SEN - I can' see the problem. I mean, after all, the wiki is completely voluntary and raising awareness of it does not mean actively hunting people down and forcing them to bookmark it and visit it on a daily basis. It is not as though we are recruiting people to work on it.

My opinion, create the thread on b.net, bump it every now and then with pointless status updates and if it gets locked, so what, we had it up for at least a little while... AFAIK - the EU.battle.net servers get very little attention in the way of Blizzard staff/mods... I could set it up there ;)

He became MVP way after he posted those, though. :P

He was an MVP prior to SC2's release, if I remember correctly. That's how he got his name in WoW (in a book and as a piece of equipment).

Such things are gained by incessantly spamming the bnet forums with nonsense. Spend enough time firstposting blue threads and you can be an MVP too.

The reason for his advertisements being allowed is probably more along the lines of the forums being virtually unmonitored, unregulated crap.
You don't even need to bother disguising an ad as a discussion. Totally unreasonable things are perfectly acceptable. Just try to avoid the use of blacklisted words, like "grape".

The first MVPs were selected Sep 25, 2010.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

I meant on the forums in general. He was an MVP poster for WoW.

EDIT:
Which is why http://www.wowhead.com/item=43840 exists and why he's listed in a book in the Death Knight starting area. :/

I remember him blatantly advertising SC2Mapster here by putting the exact same text "The creator would like you to know where it is originally posted @ www.sc2rottencaucuses.com because I think I know better than what the creators' are doing"

he quickly got the back end of the shovel.. especially from me... on the day I had little patience.
(It was also when the admin didn't do anything about it because, apparently, having fun by quoting others is a more serious crime, punishable by suspension, than blatantly advertising for another site that is obviously in direct competition - i'm glad things have settled down a bit)

oh wells.. at least that'd stop it from deteriorating into a hateful troll thread

I actually wasn't a WoW MVP, I was just a normal poster who helped out.

Not really sure why you're all hating on me. I've been helping out in the Technical Support forums since 2004. I only started helping on Fansites in 2009. Not really sure why your hatred for Mapster means than i'm a horrible and incessant spammer. Obviously that isn't the case. If I were an incessant spammer, they would not have made me MVP. Don't be silly, Kenoli.

I did have a bunch of stickies, ;). Just was never made MVP until the SC2 Forums came along.

Cool thing is, I can post on any of the forums as an MVP now, since it's flagged by Battle.net Account. So you'll see me in the WoW Forums as a Green guy, the difference is i'll have an SC2 MVP Avatar while the normal WoW greens will have something Cataclysm-related.
