Here's the deal: I'm going off to college and I need a computer. I found a promotion where if I refer 18 "friends" I'll get a free laptop. The referral link is such:
http://www.notebooks4free.com/default.aspx?r=1598008 . Apparently, you have to complete a "free" offer for you to sign up and it actually count as a referral. Of course, I don't want you to actually spend any money unless you really want to, so if you get an offer where you need to put in a credit card or spend money, retry the link and see if you get a different offer. The offer I did was with ElephantDrive and I set up a Lite Account, which was completely free.
If you can help, thanks very much. If not, oh well

I registered at Elephant drive, should have given you the referral. I must say the procedure was really quick and painless.
What's stopping you from deleting cookies and using proxies to create referrals yourself?
Absolutely nothing
. Thanks. For some reason, it's taking forever for referrals to come through.

I set my gift to $1000 and when I'm bored I'll probably give myself referrals. Curious as to how it turns out.
Tbh I believe it's a scam. There's no way 18 registerings on free sites can net them 1000+ dollars.

Did you really nude? In order to do the referral for the elephant drive, you have to sign up for a home edition trial, which you have to put your credit card info in for.
This is a mad scam. It's just way of people to get your credit card numbers and charge you for something you dont want or need. IMO you should stay far away from this site and go find yourself a laptop the legit way.
If you read the instructions on most of them, the reason they net so much money, if they actually send you the product, is that they often require you to sign up for stuff that either requires a credit card number, or that requires that you pay some sum of money. You cant just go on the site and do w/e, the instructions there are very specific.
None.
This site is for sure a scam. It has about the lowest ranking you can get on Web of Trust (WOT - Browser add-on that I recommend EVERYONE get).

There were 3 choices. 2 trial accs which were apparently not entirely free, so I chose the 3rd option: free account. It didn't explicitly say anything about not counting so I assumed it's alright. On the other hand it didn't say that it did count either.
At least it seemed to have been the option A(s,t) mentioned.
Nude, it said specifically on the instructions that you had to sign up for the home edition. The offer that didnt require a credit card number and was free didnt give you credit due to it not being the home edition that you have to sign up for.

Just double checked, he's right. Time to order some business cards.
EDIT: The lite account counts for some reason. Go sign up, no credit card needed =D.

Still not doing it, as it is most likely just gonna be a scam, and theres no way you're gonna actually get the laptop from it.

I got a better program. Unfortunately it's not a Firefox addon, but it works with every browser out there and is OS independent. As a bonus it can also filter email spam and generally help you out a lot when browsing. The best thing: It doesn't require system resources at all.
Download page (sorry, didn't find an english source so you'll have to rely on google translation. But I checked it, it's not as bad as other translations I've seen, so np.)
Will only work on Windows lol, as the .exe file extension is a Windows Executable file. Hence, they lie like a rug...

It seems you haven't read the article very carefully. I can assure you it works for any OS available.

I've seen plenty of .exes that run on various operating systems, while Windows may be the only one which requires it to recognize it as an executable, most OSes can recognize it as such if it's coded correctly.
