I think he's claiming Skype is the best messenger/program of communication because of the fact that it uses VoIP.

I personally use MSN so I say its best but,I have used yahoo and AIM aswell.

Far from being the best messenger ever. Granted I haven't used it in two years, but when I did the messenger part of it was nothing more than a simple text messenger with IRC style notation. Far from being the best messenger ever.

Ventrilo isn't a messenger. I like Skype and MSN. I used to use Trillian, but MSN was just too pretty, and I made MSN independent.

I don't know about MSN, but Skype is kind of a dual email and IM sort of thing. A lot of my friends and I communicate by sending IMs, sometimes hours apart. Plus, for being a sort of 2 in 1 thing, it's really good.
