Right now I go to Colorado State University and my grades and finances are suffering because I have become lazy and apathetic (going on 2 years of this). I will have enough debt in school loans by the end of the semester where I will have to work a year or two before I go back. Luckily, I have connections at a branch of IBM nearby that should land me a job. The thing is, at some point I want to do a study abroad in Brazil, and in order to do that I need a 2.5 GPA minimum. I currently have 2.0. Well you say, "Are you stupid? That's easy!" I would be inclined to agree with you and it normally would be. If I cared. I simply don't, or at least, not enough to do good quality work.
And so I say unto you, make me care! What sort of methods do you guys use to stay motivated and stay focused? Am I a lost cause or is there hope?
GO!
I'd post a funny pic but I'm to lazy to even do that.
Edit: Sorry, wrong forum. It's 3:00am and I'm not paying much attention.
None.
I am motivated by the fact that my gpa (3.4) makes me better than the people who are under it.
I am a Mathematician
Simple. Motivate yourself to maintain motivation.
(Seriously, that's how it works).

You have to be an egotistical douche and brag about your GPA. Also, you will not get a chick if you're that lazy.
None.
The only thing that truly made me start caring about my grades was losing my scholarship.
Unfortunately I don't have any scholarships to lose. Maybe it would help if I knew what I wanted to do, I've gone through three majors in two years.

Agreed.
Find what you want from life and get it. If you don't know what you want, then really focus on figuring it out. I don't think you could do anything more important in your life than attaining both of these things; you can't expect to be happy after college if you don't know what to study for.

The funny thing is, I knew
exactly what I wanted to do all through high school, it just fell apart when I got up here. You're right though, hopefully a year off will prove enlightening.

What were you interested in, and how did it fall apart, if you don't mind answering?
Besides that, good luck with your endeavors good sir.

I find it humorous that you think a bunch of random people on the internet will be able to motivate you if you can't even motivate yourself.

I don't mind at all. Basically the plan was to get a Mechanical Engineering degree whild doing ROTC for the Air Force, stay there for a while, hopefully as a pilot, then work for one of the big airplane companies. It fell apart simply because I cannot stand to do anymore math. I hate it that much. Right now what I want to do (in only the most vague and generals sense) is maybe work for the FBI or CIA. ROTC is still on the table too, so we'll see.

Well I am extremely unmotivated when it comes to university as well, but I motivate myself by buying CD's whenever I actually do homework or go to class. I'd be like "Self, you cannot go to the show next week unless you go to all your classes from here til then" and Self listens most of the time.
