Exactly my thought, because Raynor SC2 is pretty cringe worthy. Man they really botched the story line a characters. When Zeratul started talking about prophecies and shit "UGH OH SC2 JUST JUMPED THE MEME-SHARK".

Agree. Alot of social justice has been fought for but on the flipside voyager i think capitalism/markets have a weird way of equalizing things sometimes. Its just not that profitable anymore for the average person to be a raving racists. Cops and Prison industrial complex being a glaring exception here, but those are state sanctioned HARDCORE.

Voyager7456 -- Broflamingo
Broflamingo shouted: Voyager7456 I don't want to blanket all of them as white supremacists. There is nuance, not everyone is running around in the white hood. Some are just OLD and just left behind culturally, i mean this literally. I also think the comfort/promise of having white skin is eroding in a way. Like Moose said about the h1-b1, its about economics now. Cultural whiteness in america as a guarantee to easy everything (jobs, housing, best life, health) has lost a lot of currency simply due to capitalism.

So true, its crazy. Also moose what is weird is that these people go nuts but then I asked myself a simple question one day "Do you even leave your small town + southern/flyover state?", whats the beef"

Broflamingo -- Voyager7456
Voyager7456 shouted: I'm not sure culture as a whole is turning that way. I think it's more an airing of attitudes that were held beneath the surface. There hasn't really been a politician that so overtly appealed to those voices before.

Broflamingo shouted: I just picture grandpa/dad and his buddies being radicalized by rush limbaugh/alex jones and screaming about all the minorities/taxes/females having sex etc. Trump just embodies that nonsense, which is ironic because he comes from NYC inner ciricles where that shit doesn't play well. Trump is good at playing to his crowd, he does have that skill.

I Agree, but also you notice the hard-liners now are front and center. Beause why? The cultural tides are turning, to me its not a coincidence that hardline racists are front and center. There is a lot of...how can i put this "Old white guy" anger out there. Thats a stupid liberal term but it's literally what Trump movement emobdies. But i really mean that literally, Old white guy anger, not a blanket term for caucasians as whole.

Broflamingo -- Voyager7456
Voyager7456 shouted: I don't like the whole "identity politics" argument. Safeguarding people's rights and fighting discrimination are worthy and non-trivial endeavors.
I agree. But in a large part many gains have been made. There are still institutional problems (Out of Control Police, Redlining, controlling women 1950's style). What I'm saying is there is a disproportionate focus on identity politics, example: Most people don't give a fuck about who goes into what bathroom, but dems fall for this kind of nonsense hook line and sinker. Yes fight the battle, but don't make it he grand battle. Its economics that lays the groundwork for the rest.
[2017-5-12. : 10:03 pm]
Voyager7456 -- Not to say that wealth transfer and corporate welfare aren't hugely important.

Pauper shouted: Broflamingo I can agree with that!
Fair enough. Repubs are just Tax Cuts, TAx Cuts, Tax cuts and red meat to the Jesus mythos. Dems are repubs lite with a focus on identity politics, and culture war issues, while noble its pretty much been won. The problem is economics, corporate welfare, and wealth transfer to the top. Not some Communist but its literally how our system is designed and both parties are complicit.
