I like how they use weighted pens.

Yeah, the music was the only good part in it.
Too much text, not enough action, and the action that there was used weighted pens...
Honestly they just need to step up and get a baton.

Actually most of the korean / japanese there use pens that barely weigh more than normal pens (I would know), and the heaviest pens they use are about 17g (too heavy for me). It's just that with a normal bic pen it's pretty much impossible to do some of those tricks. Batons are too long for what they/I do.

You have to have some kind of special pen. I just tried some tutorials and it's impossible.

Sep 6 2008, 2:00 am Vi3t-X Post #10

Its not impossible, its just alot harder with less weight, as there is less reaction time.

For a lot of the simpler tricks an RSVP is sufficient (I used to use one), but eventually you'll find a bit more weight and length really helps. i found that http://youtube.com/akujinnoeso has the best tutorials.
also, to people who can't do this very well a lot of what you see looks the same, as they go pretty fast and "to the untrained eye" you can't see the types of linkages and more subtle things they do

There in fact are some tricks you cannot do without a weighted pen.

The very first of the scenes shown especially.

well yeah, you can't expect to do indexpinkybackaround reverse 2.0 (this is mine) with a bic pen... I need something slightly longer than an rsvp to do that. and even if they use very heavy pens, what does it matter? It doesn't become that much easier tbh. if you pick up a heavy long pen you still won't be able to do anything close to what they do.

Gosh now I've been trying to do the basic pen-spin move all day and I've just sort of gotten it... :P

Some of that stuff looks really awesome tho, I'd vote "pretty nice."

hm, are you referring to the thumbaround? The 4 "fundamentals" are Charge, Sonic, Thumbaround, and Fingerpass.
