I would be interested in joining the terrain ladder hosted here. I was wondering what would be considered
custom terrain? I have seen what some of you have been doing and its mind boggling
I want to know what the degree of difficulty has to be in order for one to submit a picture. I'm not an expert on terrain but I think I could throw some little pieces together and crate a scene.
Questions:
Do we send all of our files to lil-Inferno?
Is their anyone else?
Do we need it to be a scene or can it just be null tiles and the custom terrain in the center of it?
Do we need to show the grid or not?
Can we improve someone else's scene?
Do we get more minerals for different terrain? (Some are harder to blend then others)
Can it be something as simple as an extended space bridge or a wide bridge?
None.

1. Yes, but right now my PM space is in jeopardy and I can't recieve any new PMs
2. Of course, it's a contest. Not sure what you mean by this, however.
3. Your choice, but it has to have at least a slight hint of custom terrain.
4. If you paid attention to the screenshots already, you would know the answer to this is no. I do not want any hint of a grid shown in your screenshot.
5. No, you must have your own original screenshot. Stealing other's terrain and improving or disassembling it is prohibited.
6. Yes, it will cause you to ascend in the ladder.
7. Yes, of course, but that won't bring you very high.
All of these questions could have easily been answered in the Terrain Ladder first post
.
Never use the grid when taking screenshots. Improving someone else's scene is usually not allowed, unless you do some serious changes. You can do simple things, but if you want to get high in the ladder, you need to begin making the more complex things.
None.
As for what qualifies as "custom terrain", it is just any terrain that you would not normally see in the regular starcraft editor. For the ladder, you may use sprites, doodads, units, and of course, terrain. <---(last one is a must)
None.

Do we need to show the grid or not?
Making a scene is infinitely more pleasurable to look at then a blend surrounded by null tiles. (Unless of course your using the null tiles in a blend.)
And never even work with the grid on while trying to blend terrain.
None.
Well sometimes, if you leave the grid on, your piece, if it's really blocky, seems to look less blocky. However, to get a clear view on your terrain, it's better to turn off the grid to make sure that it's not blocky and blends smoothly.
None.
