First of all this is ONLY necessary if CHKDSK found more errors.
Yes that's the right site. Download the drive fitness test. Be sure to read the info there about how to create bootable media because you can't run the program under windows! At the bottom of the page there's a program that should help with creating a boot disk.
Define "more errors".
The chkdsk thing when it ran the second time did fix up some other stuff, if that's what you mean.

There are like 6 different readmes and downloads and things. It should be noted that my CD tray isn't working, but I do have one of those USB ones. Which thing do I need to read? There's like a 30 page pdf that I could read through.
I am probably a computer nub but can you PLEASE just say which one I need to go through? All of them seem to require a diskette if I'm reading it correctly?
Please respond quickly?
If you can catch me on AIM or something.

I got a BSOD saying something about the file "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"
Still happening with the same file, at least 2 more times now. How to fix?
(Btw I talked with nude and he said we essentially ruled out HDD failure)
Edit:
Interesting. I was on firefox and it started crashing and giving me the whole "Firefox has crashed. We are gonna force you to send an error report. Click below to either send error report and restart or just send error report" so I restarted. And then a few seconds later I got the same thing. And then it started happening fast immediately after hitting restart so I just lulz spammed it. BSOD. Computer restart. CHKDSK. BSOD during CHKDSK. Restart. CHKDSK. Finds new errors in firefox session restore (
) and lazarus the firefox addon. It repaired them. Computer restarts. Flash BSOD and restart. Computer turns on. I remove lazarus and restore my active desktop (lol wtf is the point of that error anyway) by changing my wallpaper. Apparently the button for restore active desktop is just giving me a internet explorer (lolwat?) error.
Also the BSOD's are all different. I wrote down one of them because it made me laugh. "A driver corrupted pool memory used for holding pages destined for disk"
Edit: Got my favorite BSOD yet. I got a BSOD within a BSOD. I literally BSOD'd out and then while the BSOD was generating it typed it again! I got two bsod's for the price of one. The BSOD said I should run a verifier or something to detect a corrupting drive or driver or something.

Looks like someone needs a new windows installation.
None.
Errors have all but completely stopped. I'll report back if that changes.

Sounds like corrupt memory or dying hard drive.
None.

The S.M.A.R.T. values are all far away from their thresholds and a surface scan has revealed no errors. (I walked him through over AIM)
Next thing I'd check is RAM. However it could be any number of things. Mainboard, CPU, video card, or even a corrupt Windows.
Errors have completely stopped for a few days after removing lazarus. No problems as of yet.

Roughly 20 days without a BSOD, and then I get another one today? Could it just be a hiccup or does it mean things are going bad again?

since we haven't determined the source it could be both.
Got my first BSOD since like August seventh. Firefox ceases to function almost entirely. Any advice?
When I open firefox, it tells me that it crashed the last time I used it, and is like "Hey here were the tabs you had open ^_^ Click restore or uncheck some of them if you think one is causing a problem!"
Interacting with firefox at all causes it to lock up and freeze. I can't even guarantee that my computer will continue to work. Some stuff is acting quite weird.

Probably dodgy memory or corrupt files on HD.
None.
I second the bad memory idea. Kind of odd that it would start causing problems now though.
None.
I left my computer on all day again and it was bluescreen when I got home. The last time it borked, I let it keep trying to restart, then eventually turned it off and turned it on again later (and it worked). This time I just immediately turned it off and then back on and it worked.

So it blue screened again twice today. But this time it was worse. It went trippy and strobe lighted a ton of different colors while on the blue screen. There were some odd graphical glitches, and then it stopped on a green color both times it crashed. It did a CHKDSK and seems to be working fine. To be safe, I'm turning off my computer.

That's unlikely to be a pure memory or HDD problem in that case.
Does this computer have an onboard graphics card or are you using a PCI/PCIe one? It could potentially be a dying graphics card screwing with the rest of the system, so if you've got onboard graphics then try removing the separate graphics card and swapping over to use the onboard and see if the problems persist.
Alternatively your motherboard is fucked.
