http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/35247/Crysis_2_Removed_From_Steam_Available_Only_On_Origin.phpSo I guess one could argue that it's the choice between one flavor of DRM versus another, but I really can't see myself installing more than one of these damn things, personally. I generally don't hack or pirate, either, so I guess I'll just assume EA has stopped making games from now on.
I'm sure they have plenty of fans and drones to make up for the loss, though.
Anyway, who wants to bet part of this may also be to make the PC more "inconvenient" as a platform in general (compared to consoles, I mean)?
Edit: The plot thickens
thickens...

None.
Why the fuck would you even make another platform? EA does such stupid stuff..
None.
PCs are being phased out. It's sad but true. The majority of the gaming industry has been over-catering for consoles because they are where the money is at. New console + top selling game = mega bucks. New PC game? Has to be super fucking amazing to = mega bucks. Consoles do have the convenience factor in simply putting a disk in and playing, no installing etc... But man, I fucking hate consoles and console fanboys. Things should've stopped with the N64 and Sega Megadrive.
Edit: Almost all high street 'computer' / 'dvd' / 'music' / 'game' stores have like 90% shelves devoted to Console games, and like 10% to PC games. When it used to be the opposite like 8 years ago. It's becoming increasingly difficult to find good computer games at the 'street level' - ie. by just browsing for your shit. Hence why I order all my games online or pirate them and then order them if they're worth it <-- and this in itself is killing the computer 'game' market, since it's a lot harder to pirate/crack Console games (harder, not impossible).
Edit 2: And it was only a matter of time before companies started branching away from Steam. I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. Steam absolutely dominates the online market share for all games, imagine the hefty commission which Steam people swipe off each sale... Terraria for example, $10 a pop on Steam, with future SteamWorks API included in the package down the line... The three full time devs probably only make a few bucks per sale ((total price $ - commission $)/(3))

EA needs me to be in charge, now.
None.
I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.
I guess that's their own approach to fight illegal copies or they had some difficulties with steam and decided to do develop their own thing.
Btw, controlling that platform for other developers might mean a constant cashflow or income with games they didn't develop.

I have yet to install Steam. And I doubt it will be different with EA's platform.
Chances they'll regret this decision: High
Estimates for when they decide to beg for it to be put back on Steam?
None.

Edit: So yeah, the plot
thickens...

I hope this is the final blow to kill EA off once and for all. These kinds of companies need to disappear so gaming can prosper as a whole.
Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.

Naw. They know they have enough drones and fans and franchises to get away with this in the long run. People will go wherever the games are at. It's as simple as that. Loss of a few boycotters are a small price to pay. In fact, I suspect they'd want to be rid of people such as those who would boycott them on feeble principal...
Now I really feel bad. And UU is probably going to suicide.
It is a sad truth that have killed me inside already.
None.
They better go back to Steam before BF3 comes out. I don't want to have to deal with their platform, which I'm sure is shitty.
tits
In reality, all platforms are shitty.
