Okay, ignoring my previous joke map, this is one I actually put some time into. It's probably horrible to you guys, but until my skill improves idrc.

Players: 2
Terrain: Badlands
Name: Shining Cavern
Concept: Having players use tactical strategies in order to defeat the enemy, and be able to spread to more expos. Mostly conquest/map dominance. Lots of minerals. Kinda bland? Yes. It's a plain cavern with abundant resources.
Comments: Shiny.



Once again, bash all you like. I'm going to fix the high dirt area above the gas only expo below player 1's base, I forgot to edit that out. If you can see, I did my best to take out any high dirt tank drop areas for the sake of other races. I also tried to non-linear as much as I could, considering there's a number of ways to go.

The tightness of this map is the main problem. In fact, it is so much of a problem the map probably has to be scrapped. :-(

I don't see how its so 'tight'. I actually made this open, if I wanted it to be tight it would be much, much, smaller.

Blue's main is a bit cramped and red has no defensible natural.

The "tightness" refers to the paths between bases; it's labyrinth-like, which pisses players off. Terrans can't push, Dragoons start getting confused, etc. This is very, very zerg OP, but depending on timing/wallability protoss can counter with 2base carriers which is very strong on this map.

EDIT> Way too many island expansions and a ton of minerals can't be reached. This is definitely Zerg OP since mutalisk micro can dominate the scene. TvP the protoss will win unless the terran pulls a Boxer build and pumps wraiths to counter carriers. Rush distance is HUGE. Terran has a scouting advantage versus protoss, but mech army too immobile on this map.

Your maps show how much you understand Melee. If you had the slightest idea in how to play StarCraft properly- and what this forum is really about, then you shouldn't even have bothered posting.

@doomrusher Eh, I think its a terran map. Terran can just bottleneck the tight chokes.
Oh, and I can name 100 more imbalances about this map, but the tightness takes the cake.
EDIT: Just realized, player 2 has a nat but player 1 doesnt. THAT maybe the biggest imbalance, but I dont know :/

Actually, I just realized something...

When we bash your map(s), by NO means should you quit melee mapping. If you keep trying, eventually you will get it.

I already know nobody will appreciate it Dem0nS1ayer, because every insult anyone makes at this map doesn't bother me at all. If you were intelligent and didn't appreciate this, then why waste your time commenting on it? Everything anyone has to say is text on my moniter. Text doesn't hurt emotionally, physically, or mentally. The only reason I'm actually responding to you is because of your unnecessary insult.

That was just to exaggerate my comment. Nobody here besides Dem0nS1ayer has had a serious problem thus far. What he said wasn't necessary and should have been kept to himself. I don't care if you point out everything possibly wrong with the map, but don't you dare spit out random insults at it. <- (That last part isn't directed towards anyone.)

With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
