Sure, people in this time and age tend to be apathetic, but that doesn't mean all of them are. Ever heard of vacations? Maybe playing a new video game? Or how about learning a new instrument? Each time you experience something new, I'd say that's an achievement all in it's own, no matter how small.

Do you want to be like the 'average person' you've described? I wouldn't want to be.

Destiny still controls us. It controls whether we like the video game or not, or where we want to go to vacation. We make the decisions in our head, but really, there is only one decision for us to make, and we can't make any other ones.

Red: So what is the world if more than 90% of it is "apathetic"
I will still believe in fate until I see one person stand up to fate, and tell the world what is going on, not just himself.

What the hell are you basing this on? Nothing controls what video games you choose to like or dislike. Nothing controls WHERE you spend you vacation at. I could go chill in my backyard, OR I could go to my friend's house down the street. I'm not going to be going to my friend's house and all the sudden a magic hand grabs me by the collar of my shirt and drags me into my backyard. Your Imaginary fate may say that I'm going to chill in the backyard, but I'm going to my friend's house and no arbitrary force is going to stop me. We can make an infinite amount of decisions.

p.s. Where are you seeing all these apathetic people at?

None.

There are many decisions for us to make, not just a one that we 'have' to make. I can choose to delete this post, or I can choose to leave it up for you to see. I could also throw my computer out my window, but I choose not to. You can say that fate makes us do everything that we will do, but really, how can you prove this with logic? You've yet to give me a reason why we're 'slaves of fate', and I do mean a good, logical reason, and I've pointed out many fallacies with your argument.

You may choose to let 'fate' decide your choices. I'll choose to ignore fate and make my own choices.

You're looking right at that person. Doesn't mean I'll tell the world, because frankly, they already know they can choose their path.

I mean consciously we can chose our own fate. But the way we chose our own fate is based on the situation we are in, not in any other thing. I'm talking that fate guides us in a way that fate is the given situation/idea/though/anything that guides us, and we can't help but to follow it. I feel like I'm saying it wrong, cause its hard to explain :P

Do you mean to refer to the fact that humans form decisions based on their situation and what is known to them? That's not called fate, that's called responding to your environment.

For example, Let's say that we are hanging out after school, and our friend Jerry picks us up in his truck. We get in, and notice Mercyful Fate (or perhaps one or both of us are unfamiliar with the name of the band) playing from Jerry's speakers. I will love the music, but I can pretty much assume that you wouldn't appreciate Mercyful Fate all that much... Is this fate? No. I just happen to be more musically educated than you are. You decide to dislike the band, and I decide to appreciate the band. This is not fate. No one is stopping you from researching music and acquiring the taste. For all you know, you might be able to appreciate Mercyful Fate next time Jerry picks us up in his truck after school.

What he is trying to say is that we don't respond freely to our environment, because to an extent our environment determines our response to it. Fate is a bad word to use for this, but I think there is a valid argument for determinism.

I think fate is decided for you, except you can chose to change that, though many don't.

But for now, we are all slaves of destiny.

Everything is a choice, except the will to live, which is implanted in all living organisms (keep in mind that doesn't include people/animals with mental disorders).

There is no way to prove or disprove fate. I do not believe in fate because there is a lack of concrete evidence.

Win by luck, lose by skill.

Oh_Man -- whereas just "press X to get 50 health back" is pretty mindless

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Ultraviolet -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort
