Although Corbo will probably have this once the mods have been submitted, I still feel obligated to put forward a suggestion.

There should a be "Honourable Mentions" list and/or a "Runner-ups" list, purely for the sake of further promoting modding.

No, if someone can't finish a decent mod in more than 2 and a half months deserves less than pity.
An honourable mention would be a REALLY awesome mod that sadly couldn't make it to any of the places provided. Not just because he remembered the SMC hours before deadline and submitted an entry just for submitting something.

Thankfully, we still have a month and about a week left in the contest.

Lets see what happens.

None.

Heya. I know I'm a little late, but I'd like to participate in the contest. I'm going solo for this one, though I wouldn't mind receiving help in the realm of graphics... Also, would you mind if I made a post for this mod I'll be working on in the Modding Projects forum or would you like me to keep it confidential?

None.

Rules:
- Mods must be submitted before the deadline you will have almost 2 long months to submit your mod before june 30th.
As an addition you are provided a counter till deadline: official timer.
- You must say in advance that you are going to participate, if you quit you will have to let me know. But I strongly recommend you not to enrage me by quitting.
- You must not submit an already made mod, neither a mod that It's already in progress. It must be something I don't know it exists.
There has been cases of stupid people sending PMs asking if it was okay to submit their secret on progress project, don't be silly and if I don't know about it just don't tell me or I'll find out, duh!
- Team work is encouraged, however, if you're going to make a team project I don't recommend more than 2 persons. In fact, seeing other SMC examples I will not allow this time more than 3 people working on the same team. One contestant can be in no more than two teams as well.
- No Entry Fees, please don't send me money even if you know my adress.
- You may submit updates, as in post a topic and show us your work and buy the judge and the people. Also read below.
- Contradicting above you should not make you mod public, what if somebody steals your ideas? But if you want to take the risk go for it!

fuck you all

Oh I'm so sorry. I admit I only gave the rules a quick glance >.<

Gah. I'm really really sorry and I'd hate to incur your wrath, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to withdraw my entry in this contest. Unfortunately, a little less than a month simply isn't enough time for me alone to realize a lot of the changes I want to make. Plus my in-house graphics creation workflow is blowing up in my face and I realized I need to relearn a bunch of my old modding techniques. It's really too bad, I thought I might have a decent chance of winning with mod. On the bright side, this will certainly give me time to realize the campaign maps that I had begun planning. Anyway, I hereby withdraw my entry in the Summer Modding Contest. Hopefully I'll have time this summer to make decent progress on my mod and therefore be able to release it before StarCraft 2 comes out :P.

Sup guys?
17 more days. That's like just a bit more than 2 weeks. Hope those mods are being polished right now.

Also, it'll be a nice time for the admins to tell me if sen's going to be providing me the sen prizing.

Who's actually doing something?

Might as well just close the contest if no one's working of course.

Hello

RoryFenrir and I are probably submitting something.

Please report errors in the Staredit.Network forum.

Jun 14 2009, 7:31 pm Biophysicist Post #95

I am almost finished with my mod. Only things left to do are some triggers (which I have written down and just need to actually put into the mod) and balancing. Plus a bit of string work. I'll definetly have mine done, at least.

None.

Jun 21 2009, 7:04 pm RoryFenrir Post #96

i dont know about our submission to tell the truth, i want to finish it, but in 10 days? no, especially with all the stuff ive been doing this summer. We still have plugins to impliment, spells, attacks, balence, AI... We will get our mod done, but just not for the contest. Sorry, but it looks like there wouldnt be much competition anyway.

None.

I concur.

No one has even really confirmed and in past contests people even posted topics for their mods weeks ealier and released them. There's still 7 more days and putting aside obvious joke entries I doubt anyone actually has or will make a mod in that little ammount of time. Considering that I even gave an extension that I should not even have given.

The lack of support of the administration, recent changes of sen and other variables over all might have influenced the contest even more. I thought of a new concept for modding competitions that directly promote modding in a short term but it won't happen here. Not with the lack of support I am having and I don't mean by participants.

I am shutting down this SMC IV. Hopefully the next one in the next year has more support than this one. I am somewhat disgusted. This topic can be closed to prevent people from starting to post crap and to prevent me start flaming as well.

fuck you all
