Anyway, I've always wanted to make a great zombie map and I wanted to base it on the concept of the movie "I AM LEGEND" where you have to defend yourself against zombie/vampire hybrids while finding a "cure" to beat the game.
So my idea is that there are time limits for exploring to find the components for the "cure" and a time limit where you should hide and defend yourself (ie: Day time and night time). Perhaps day time lasts for 2-3 minutes and night time lasts for 2-3 minutes. After each succession in night time, the zombies get increasingly harder. If you're stuck during sundown, you are pretty much screwed. However, maybe I can make it a painful death where you become a zombie, mindlessly wandering the streets or a rescuable unit down the line.
I was thinking of having a safe house in the far corner where zombies can't break in... yet... but the only disadvantage of being somewhere that far away is, of course, distance, and since you have to spend time walking to the next location, by the time night rolls around, you're trapped.
I was also thinking of having buildings for you to explore, where the zombie/vampires could hide 24/7, but in order to beat the game and survive, you have to explore. I was going to do this by creating, say, an Engineering Bay that when a player approaches, the location would transport them to another part of the map where the can explore the "inside" of the building for ammunition and food.
More of the ammunition and food: There will also be two inventories, one for ammunition and guns, and the other for food. When your food supply runs out, you die. When you run out of ammunition, you're defenseless. So the trigger happy gamer may be in trouble. For the food trigger, I would make it so that every night 1 unit of food disappears, when it reaches less than 0, you lose. In an attempt to make the game harder, after you find the cure, you need to obtain a certain amount of food to leave the zombie/vampire infested city with the newfound cure.
Let me know what you all think or if it's already been done.
Thanks!
