Pfft... That looks like yard sale equipment compared to what my dad has. jk He has 2 Wharfendale mid range plus 2 Wharfendale subs, both powered separately each by its own amplifier. I don't know the specifics of the amps but he told me that together they're pushing 3000 watts per channel. He has a Newmark D2 mixer for rough cuts and Mixmeister Fusion powered by his laptop for perfect/crazy mixes.

Well, taking into consideration that this was outside in a residential area around midnight, they couldn't really beef up the stage too much. It was fine though, got the people movin' to the Dark Full-On Psy-Trance I was playing :)

Newmark mixers BLOW dogs man, lol. Pioneer is the way to go with CD-Js and Mixers, and Technic Mk's are the way to go with TurnTables.

Pffft! CD-J's? My dad uses two 80Gb hardrives, one for the Newmark D2 and one for his Laptop. I have to give you credit though for actually cutting/scratching mixes together, if thats what you do. If you ever plan on using a laptop to play music out of, this is the software of the Gods. It can do it all. To show you an example, my dad was playing some gay country song requested by someone, he used that software to do a 16 measure fade in and fade out, completely beat mixed. Sounds cool? Well the other song he was mixing into was "Crank That" by Soulja Boy.

What it did was actually slowed down the country song, because I believed it was a quick paced song and then lowered the volume gradually. Then it did the opposite for the hip hop/rap song. It sped it up and raised the volume, when it reached the point that "Crank That" was playing by itself, it slowed the bpm of the song down to its normal level. Fucking shweet!

No he is, he uses his Newmark D2 Director to mix songs, which is actually pretty nice to hear, its just for odd ball songs, and or when hes away and I'm at the controls. :) I don't know what I'm doing, so I just "click and drag" and voila, magic. :hurr:

Having a computer beat match for you, and do all the work != DJing bro.

The computer is the DJ in that case.

But when you're physically touching Vinyl records or using CD-Js and you beat match, YOU are DJing, no one else. Not even a computer.

LIES! Just because my dad is down with technology doesn't make him any less of a DJ then Kellimus. He touches his hard drive (disc) so there! :P He did do it with 12inch vinyl records back before he had kids. He had two Technic (insert crazy letter/number combination) turn tables inside of a custom made coffin, which he made. :) He still has about 2k 12inch vinyl records in milk crates.

That's just transitioning between song A and song B, it's really not that shweet. I honestly hope he can actually cut/mix/scratch, because despite however important transitioning is in DJing, you're not a DJ if that's all you can do. I do that to my mp3s on my comp for shits and giggles sometimes, and I'm no DJ.

DJing is something that I've always wanted to get into. I've gone to countless local raves here in Vegas and seen many of the top DJs in the world spin at clubs and massive electronic music festivals in L.A. I've got a few friends that DJ so I've been behind a turntable a couple times, but just to mess around. One of these days when I have the disposable income I plan to get a set of my own.

Nope. The stage didn't get moved inside until around 2ishAM, after I had already spun.

I'm actually on the back patio of the house it was at, lol. The doors behind me go into the living room in pic 1. In pic 2, the door to the right of me goes into a bedroom, and if you keep following the side to the back, it goes to a sound wall the city put up so the freeway doesn't make too much noise. In pic 3, the furthest door to the left actually led to the inside of the house where the other stage (and the majority of the people) was.

If you look in all the pics you can see a 'porch light', lol.

Bronto... Can you tell me how your dad is actually "DJing" by letting a computer do all the work for him and he just pics the songs? I don't see how he's cutting, cue-ing or even beatmatching by letting a computer automatically do it.

He's just picking songs, that's not DJing.

And I never said he was 'lesser' of a DJ, just stated that its kinda..... Stupid, to claim you DJ when you let the computer do all the true DJing work for you.

Well honestly there is some Psy-Trance out there that does that to me as well... I prefer Goa Trance honestly. DJing isn't that hard man, just gotta know how to pick out which song is playing in the PFL, quicker/slower than the one that's live. Then you gotta adjust the pitch depending on the speed.. If its slower, use the pitch slider and give it a few +%s, if its faster, pitch it down a few -%s to match the beat.

If you're using Vinyl, cue-ing is much simpler cause you can physically touch shit. CD-Js are a bit more 'complicated' in that aspect (Unless you got those sexy Pioneer CD-Js that have the 'vinyl' feel, then you can cue em like vinyl :D) but I like how you can go to any place in the song and set a cue point, and have more than one cue point 'n shit. I also like how you can seamlessly loop things, too.

Psy-trance makes you wanna kill yourself... Wanna hear some Goa/Psy hybridish songs I've made? My original Psychedelic Trance (Goa and Psy-Trance) compositions/productions

Please check them out, I wanna hear your opinion.. One that's from someone who actually listens to EDM and knows what good production is.

Speaking of which, you should totally come out to Phoenix AZ on the 29th of June for a free event that I'm Live PAing at ;-P My friend PaultheJunglist is going to drop some sick ass DarkStep 'n shit after my Live PA.
