Ok, I was bored and started thinking again (I would work on my map but I decided to put it off until I can get a mouse for my laptop, since I don't want to have to keep emailing updates to myself over and over again XD).
I figured I may as well post more details on what I plan to do:

I.) Boss Ideas:

A.) Halon von Craziman (unsure of unit, although most likely a zerg meleer)
1.) Inhabits a Castle (von Craziman Style), which moves every time he is defeated (first to an island west of his original location, not sure after that).
2.) Mainly a brute-strength boss
3.) Abilities -
a.) Revives upon dying. You have to kill him a certain number of times (probably increasing with each time you defeat him) to win the fight.
b.) Has hallus/neutral clones with him in the battle.
4.) Very low hp (probably 1 hit kill), relatively high damage.
5.) Other information:
a.) Relatively easy boss if you pay attention.
b.) For a picture of what the boss is supposed to be, think of the fight with the ghost-thing miniboss in the Forest Temple in Zelda Ocarina of Time. It's basically pretty similar to that, although I doubt any of you play N64 games these days XD. There will probably be some clue giving away the real one, and if you don't kill it in a few seconds, it attacks you.
c.) If you defeat him enough times, he makes an offer for you to join his empire. If you accept, he becomes a friendly npc questgiver, and your previous alliance is revoked. If you reject him, you have to fight him one last time. If you beat him, you keep his castle.

B.) Melekh Sheol (probably dark templar)
1.) In his Castle in Hades (currently unsure of where that will be on the map).
2.) Spellcasting/summoner boss
3.) Abilities -
a.) Shadowball - summonsan overlord belonging to the player (constantly ordered to wherever the player was when the spell was cast), which has recalls following it. If the player gets too close, he is sucked to another location where he is dealt serious damage, and then moved back to where he was.
b.) Summon skeletons - summons a pair of skeletons (usually used 3 in quick succession, creating 6), which chase you and act as normal. These are mainly distractions.
4.) High shields, somewhat low hp, low damage. Actively tries to run away from the player (unless casting shadowball) and harass them with skeletons.
5.) Other information -
a.) Defeat him simply by killing him. Due to his high shield/hp ratio, it would be helpful to have picked up the Orb of Light (science vessel with EMP) before trying to fight him.
b.) The skeletons are distractions. Focus on Melekh Sheol.
c.) If you didn't pick up the Orb of Light, you can still see him while he's casting shadowball (that's why the overlord goes to the player).
d.) If he is defeated, the Kingdom of Hades is slowly taken over by Shadowmeister Nicoli (unless he is also dead, in which case, Hades is inherited by the player, who is then forcibly crowed).
e.) Melekh Sheol is the spearhead the New Order, which is basically a liberal revolution in Undead society. As long as he lives, the Vampires (led by Shadowmeister Nicoli), who are the former nobility of Hades, will be enemies with the majority of the undead. Upon his death, the vampires regain their noble status.

C.) Shadowmeister Nicoli (probe)
1.) Unsure of location, although probably not far from Hades.
2.) Summoning/spellcasting boss
3.) Abilities -
a.) Shadowball - Summons a (preferably cloaked) unit followed by recall graphics, that goes to wherever the player was when it was cast. If it touches the player, it spawns air units (probably scouts) which immediately attack the player and disappear.
b.) Insanity - sends hallus towards a location that the player has to guard. If a hallu reaches this area, air units are spawned by the player, which immediately attack and disappear. (Hallus are detected the same way burrow is detected - a unit is moved to the area, and if it is found to be misplaced (as in, it can't get to the area and moves nearby instead), the trigger proceeds)
4.) Very high shields, moderate hp, and somewhat low damage (his main attack is the spells).
5.) Other information -
a.) Nigh-impossible to defeat without the Orb of Light (science vessel with EMP, used to kill hallus and disable shields).
b.) Leader of the vampire nobility. If he dies, the vampires are scattered and the Resistance to the New Order is doomed.

D.) King Barricade O'Llama (vulture)
1.) Location on the biggest island in the Kuponian Archipeligo, in the bottom right corner of the map.
2.) Brute force/summoner boss
3.) Abilities -
a.) If you kill him, a King unit (probably high templar) spawns in his place and tries to run away from you. In a few seconds, a dropship will arrive with another Llama for him to ride. Once he reaches the llama, he goes back to his normal form and resumes the battle (the King unit is moved to a separate area, with damage retained. Once the King unit dies, the player wins the fight).*
b.) Just like the person he's based off of, he burns through his money. His main attack is to throw wads of cash at you as a weapon!**
c.) O'Llama can sometimes teleport from one side of the arena to another. Also, he knows areas that you might not be aware of.
*If the player reaches the llama before him, the player steals the llama and gets a llama rider (vulture) (his hero is moved to a separate area), and O'Llama orders another llama.
**Before you start laughing, you might want to remember that the currency of choice in the Kuponian Archipeligo is Kupo Beans, which are highly volatile (infested terrans).
4.) His main form (vulture) has relatively low hp and low damage, while his vulnerable state (high templar) has high hp and no attack.
5.) Other information -
a.) His death is effectively the end of the Kuponian Empire, leaving the archipeligo open to players who may want to make a profit off the drug trade.
b.) He leaves behind clues upon his death to a secret area on the island.

E.) Kanna Shapat (archon)
1.) Unsure of location
2.) Mainly a brute force boss.
3.) Abilities -
a.) Divine Blast - works just like Shadowmeister Nicoli's shadowball, except that the targeter is followed by exploding protoss air instead of recalls.
4.) Very high shields, very low hp, and high-ish damage.
5.) Other information -
a.) Ironically, the Orb of Light will be a great asset (if not completely necessary) for this fight (in roleplay terms, you're using the force of true purity to reveal his hypocrisy =P).
b.) Represents the Grand Old Regime and all that comes with it, in addition to being a self-rightous zealot of the Light (as his name suggests, if you know random greek words =P). His fall marks a victory for the New Order.

F.) The Burning Bush
1.) Yes, as your character finds out in the story, his name is in fact George.
2.) I don't really have any ideas for this boss as of yet, but I figured that since I made fun of Obama, I should make fun of George Bush, who was of course far worse XD.

Ok, It's 10:00 PM where I live and I'm gonna go to bed. I'll add on more tommorow if I'm available (I'm having dental surgery tommorow and I'm not sure how if I'll feel well enough to post afterwards =/).
When I get back, I'll probably start on gameplay information.

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face

It all sounds pretty good! I like the shadow balls, and it sounds like it might be quite a funny RPG. Keep it up!

Red classic.

"In short, their absurdities are so extreme that it is painful even to quote them."

So O'Llama = Obama, eh?

So far it's just terrain =/. It'll probably progress pretty fast once I get the terrain all done though, since I pretty much know what to do trigger wise.
Now, continuing...

G.) *Name will be a surprise :D * (ghost)
1.) Location varies, although he can usually be found in his Iron Blimp.
2.) Spellcasting/Brute Force Boss
3.) Abilities -
a.) "Real Power" - simply a nuke. Usually only seen in cutscences, however, if you drag a fight with him too long, he may teleport to an elevated area and nuke you from there.
b.) Teleportation - teleports to a random location in the arena (spawns a cloaked targeter unit that's ordered to a random location, and moves him when it reaches it's destination).
c.) Vanish - a cloaked overlord transports him. Usually this spell will accompany teleportation.
d.) Gattling gun - spawns wraiths at his location, which immediately attack the player and disappear (if the player is in range).
e.) Invulnerability gas - a dark swarm (preplaced on the map) is moved to his location. Note that he will not use this if the hero has a melee attack.
f.) Pantokrator Wrath - *Works just like Kanna Shapat's "Divine Wrath" spell*
g.) Plasma Rifle - gives the boss a guardian, which disappears after a few seconds (unless the player's hero can attack air, in which case it only disappears upon being killed).
4.) Moderate hp, high armor, low damage.
5.) Other information -
a.) Final boss of game. Probably will have to be fought more than once.

Ok, enough on bosses.
II.) Gameplay information
A.) Items
1.) Can be dropped randomly from creatures you kill or picked up off the ground, or mined/harvested from a resource.
2.) Kept in a player's inventory. To use an item, move it to an area marked in the inventory access (for easy use, a shuttle/overlord/dropship will be available to transport units so you can just hotkey it and click instead of having to move your screen to the area and move the unit manually).
3.) If a player dies, he drops all his items, some of which are left behind in a "corpse" unit that marks the player's death location. Players (both the dead player and other players) can loot this corpse by killing it, and gain whatever items the player had.

B.) Heroes
1.) A player selects his hero at the start of the game, like in any rpg. Simply move whatever unit I use as a chooser to the beacon with the hero you want, and the hero will appear in a separate area, and a text description of the hero and it's spells will pop up. The player can then choose to start the game or go back and select another hero.
2.) Secret heroes can be obtained throughout the game. Most secret heroes involve dying and are essentially a second life.
3.) Remember that "hero" does not mean "god." Put in words a b.net noob should understand, Legolas was an elf with skillz, not an elf with superpowers.
4.) Most heroes have 2 - 4 spells. Just as important as your spells will be your items.

C.) Currency
1.) The game has multiple currencies, just like the world in real life does.
a.) Kupo Beans (infested terran) - predominantly used in the Kuponian Archipeligo. They are highly volatile and can also be thrown as projectiles (using the item will spawn an infested terran, which you can use to blow whatever up). However, they are largely unknown outside of the Kuponian Archipeligo.
b.) Gold Coins (probably data disc) - currency of choice in any area where the Grand Old Style is still in influence. They have no special powers or anything, but they're almost universally recognized (almost no store will turn down gold).
c.) Glacier Shards (khalis crystal) - minerals frozen over into ice crystals, used in the northern regions. They are not widely used, but they can be converted to mana and having them in your inventory may give a boost to the power of your ice magic (if you have any), in addition to slowing down fire and water based spells. Note that exposure to great heat may cause them to melt into various minerals, such as salt, iron, or even gold.
d.) Hel Fragment (uraj crystal) - Chunk of mineral mined from Hel. While extremely beautiful, rare, and valuable, the are radioactive and must be handled with proper equipment/resistance. They are currently only accepted in Hades, however, they are largely out of use even there due to a ban on Hel mining. If this ban were to be lifted, they would likely come into popularity. Hel Fragments are also latent with magical energy and possessing them makes your mana recharge much faster (they may also discharge energy from your body as scarabs).
e.) "Credits" (no unit) - beginning to become popular in the liberal gnomish areas. As they are not represented by a unit, but rather, a death counter, they are rather convenient, although they require that you have been registered by the gnomish banks and have some sort of electronic implant.

D.) Castles
1.) Eventually, a player may opt to build/buy himself a Castle. There are plenty of styles of castles to choose from -
a.) The Grand Old Style (Nexus) - Grand Old Style castles tend to be spacious and, well, grand. They are expensive and have no special abilities, however, they do come with just about everything a player could possibly want from a castle - an arena, prebuilt buildings, dancing girls, etc all come with the castle.
b.) von Craziman Style (Infested Command Center) - These are small, lightweight, and moderately expensive. However, they make up for their size with one unique trait - they FLY. As the only mobile castle, they are growing in popularity, particularly in the northern half of the world.
c.) Traditional Human Style (Command Center) - No special abilities, but it's got a decent price, for a decent amount of space (larger than von Craziman style, smaller than Grand Old Style). It cannot lift (if you try, the lifted cc will vanish and a new one will be created by triggers, since you can't force a building to land with triggers =/).
d.) Shadow Fortress (Lair) - Dark, intimidating, scary, and frequently haunted. These things are nearly as large as the Grand Old Style, although budget is saved on the flashy decorations. This kind of castle will occassionally spawn ghosts (they cannot be removed from the castle once they are in, however; even if they did not originate from the castle), and it provides the cover of darkness (pre placed dark swarms) for your archer towers (assuming dark swarms can be moved with triggers, you will be able to turn these on and off). Like the Grand Old Style, Shadow Fortress castles are large, durable, and very expensive.
2.) A player's castle is his home, and also the center of his empire if he plans to build one. A player can build in his castle, in fact, that is the main purpose of the castle - to provide a safe stronghold for a player's important buildings, including upgrades, healing, and recruitment.
3.) A player can only have one castle. This is because castles are in limited supply (they take up quite a bit of terrain space, so I can only make a few).

sounds interesting, would love to test for it whenever its ready.

oh and you could try freeing up your pm box ^^

Ok, my PM box is nigh empty now :D .

Aug 17 2009, 12:05 pm Jesusfreak Post #9

Meh, bad news. I'm probably going to have to scrap the idea of players building/buying their own castles, there simply isn't enough room. If my estimates are correct, it would take up a third of the map (at least) to even provide 3 of each castle type (including the ones owned by bosses that you have to kill), and I still have to do interiors and other fortresses.

None.

Aug 17 2009, 6:52 pm darksnow Post #10

but wouldn't that eliminate the king class? (assuming you're still using it)

None.

Aug 18 2009, 2:09 pm Jesusfreak Post #11

No, it wouldn't, and no, I'm not still using it. There's still a king unit, but it's only for NPC and boss purposes.
