Storyline / Introduction

Twilight Legacy RPG

In the beginning, life was simple. People lived out their lives in peace, and happiness.
The three moons above, stayed where they should have, in the sky. Then, something happened.
The second moon, the largest of the three, Twilight, collided with the third moon, the smallest of the three, Dawn.
No one could figure out the reason why these two moons had collided.
The collision resulted in both moons being utterly destroyed.
Their debris rained down upon the surface of the planet for decades, destroying lives and villages.
Pockets of people survived, and after the debris stopped raining down, they started to rebuild.
Most of the fragments were from Twilight. Some say that, through the collision, the fragments gained an aura of power.
Over time, a few people learned to harness this power. Some learned the power of healing, others, learned the power of destruction.
The surface was ravished by battles and wars, fighting over control of these Twilight Crystals.

I tested for like thirty minutes and liked what I saw. I'll need some more time to evaluate further, but so far my only criticism is sometimes important text is cleared from all of the other text messages that pop up... Idk how to fix that but just something that was a little irritating ya mean? Nice work tho it looks and feels pretty professional :)

Little update for ya.

Single player mode - Basically bug free, the map works nearly flawless, nothing to fix here.

Multi player mode - Unless you get the right people in the game, the map can lag pretty bad. There might also be some bugs left over that I haven't caught in testing, hopefully they are all gone. If you find one, please let me know.

I have the most current version ready. Fixed some minor bugs that could effect game play, but the problem is, I have run out of space left to attach. Does anyone know how to get rid of old attachments so that I can free up some space?

Well, I messed everything up...
I tried removing the map to see if it would then free up that space, and it didn't.
It also did not let me undo the removal of the map.
So now I don't have room to post the map again and the map isn't online.
Anyone know a free file hosting site I can dump it to?

Since release I've made a number of minor modifications to this map, fixing various bugs and such.
I've also tweaked difficulty in a few areas. Anyone find anything else that needs attention?

I got lots of feedback and such when the map was in production and since I released it, not many have said anything about it.
Hope you like the map as much as I do.

I also crashed.

It happened just as I was approaching the twilight crystal in the 3rd quest I believe. The one where you must discover what is disturbing them. I hadn't saved either. lame :( .

Other than that, I liked the map, although the 'hard' characters could be a littler harder, I found the marine very easy to play.

But the zergling is just impossible : the only way would be to wait for auto-regeneration of zergs units to heal yourself and that would take the eternity!!

I find the zergling somewhat easy, in that he attacks really fast. I have only beat the map 3 times however, with 3 different chars.

I have gotten the twilight crystal bug a few times, but it does not seem repeatable. Any ideas what is causing this?
The triggers for the crystal are the simplest they can be, but that might be part of the problem I guess.
Each player has a location that follows it, and whenever P8 brings a twilight crystal to your location, give it to P7.
Now, I have a seperate location centered on each of the crystals in that 3rd quest area for the spawning of the leeches, but they don't mess with ownership of the crystals.
Could the simple Giving of the crystal to another player be the cause of the crash?

I did some testing tonight on the crystal, and when i tested the map when it was unprotected, it did NOT crash.
I took the same map, protected it, and the crash bug was duplicated.
So, I'm thinking the protecting is causing the crystal itself to become corrupt.
Tomorrow I will see if I can't move it around in the space and hopefully fix the bug.
If anyone gets this bug, please post what hero you were and whether you were looking directly at the crystal when you got near it,
or if your vision was elsewhere on the bug. I need to be able to replicate it before I can track it down.

Once night hits, all support units are removed first, and then your hero unit is moved to a location with an enemy medic inside it.
The medic then blinds your unit and the the hero is moved back to it's location.
Some weird things can happen when medics are on the map.
If you are in a boss battle with overlords that stay on the map for a slight amount of time,
the overlord will always try and travel to the medic to pick him up.
Tonight I am going to do some testing with the crystals, perhaps they are too close to the walls and are glitching.

WOOO...bug found and destroyed, for those of you patiently waiting.

Apparantly somewhere along the lines of editing and saving, and editing and saving, a wav file became corrupt.
That wav file was played when you first reach those quest crystals. The wav has been removed and replaced with something else.
Funny thing was, the wav would only corrupt when the map was protected, so it was a compression error thing.

"parameter incorrect" was the error, and it said it was an error when trying to load a file. Hope this helps anyone else getting weird error crash bugs.

Another asinine thing about it, I took out the crystal wav, and then the intro techno music had the same bug happen to it... =(
I did play through the 3rd quest without it crashing the same way, and all sounds in the map are used up to that point, so no wavs should be corrupt.

I apologize and thank you for waiting, please let me know if anything major pops up, if my luck stays the same I'm sure a bug will be found within a week.

Wow very intricate, this is a lot better than other RPGs out there. I liked the complexity of your terrain, and the general gameplay of the map. Kudos.
