Strafe Arena 1.13

This was a map I made a while ago and I thought I'd post it here.

Objective: Kill your opponents' Fenixes using three weapons: a Dagger, a Gun, and a Bomb.

Game Options:
  • FFA / Teams
  • Lives
  • Health (How many times you get hit before dying)


Weapons: Each player gets three zerglings to use their three weapons. Move a zergling down to use the weapon stated on the power-up beside it. Hotkeys are recommended.


The Dagger: Kills all enemies near your Fenix.

The Gun: Shoots a straight line of fire in the direction your Fenix is facing and kills all enemies in its path. You can block enemy gunshots (explained later).


The Bomb: Plants a bomb behind the direction your Fenix is facing. Then it will detonate the next time you use it, killing enemies near it.



Blocking: When an enemy's gunshot is coming toward you, simply turn around from the direction it is coming toward you, and it will stop.


1 Mineral means you can use a weapon, 0 minerals means you can't.
Your gas tells you which direction your Fenix is facing: 1 = up, 2 = left, 3 = right, 4 = down.

There's only one bug I found, which happens if you move your zergling in the top before the game starts.

I think that the stargate system was better than the zergling system. And it's also faster to detect when the zergling is not in it's location that detecting when it's in a different one.

Hm, really? I would think detecting when it's in a different location is faster.. Unless do you mean a 1pixel by 1pixel location on the zergling?

Use an inverted location (look it up in the wiki, if you don't know what it is)- it will give you the fastest movement detection.

Thanks for that, I just got it to work. It's surprisingly faster ^^ It will be useful for another map I'm making atm.

This game is awesome, and it is definately chaotic beyond my level of play.. so I simply can't play this game without getting owned/a headache.
I think it is partly because of the many hotkeys that we gotta use.. I would always click my zling too much or w/e.... and mess up somehow...
A gateway system would've worked too I think .. like z = dagger, t = bomb, and d = gun...
But u know what? it doesn't matter at all... your system is fine :P

However, it is a very over-the-top crazy game... >< .. I don't think I can get the hang of it...
but damn... it totally owned me like a FALCON PUNCH would..

Meh.. making 18 same inverted locations would take a while.. >< and I'm working on another map. Maybe when I have more time and I'm not feeling lazy.

Thanks :P. Yeah, people say that a lot. It's a fast paced game but gets easier when you get used to the hotkeys. The first weapon system was a stargate, but this method proved to be faster :).
