Which one is the real photograph, and which one is rendered in Crysis?

Crysis is probably going to be the biggest PC game of the year (and it'll give Halo 3 a run for its money in terms of sales).

Some Basic Crysis Info

( user posted image )

Those were just some of my favorite screenshots. "But, graphics aren't what make a game," many people say. True enough, but they sure as Hell don't hurt! So I downloaded the Crysis Open Beta (a 1.4 Gb file). Unfortunately, single player was missing, as was (strangely) antialiasing support. So even at 1920x1200, some visuals in the distance had jaggies. However, the game still looked top notch, and even without AA support, the graphics were better than even Bioshock (which had the best graphics IMO up to this point). Simply put, this is DirectX 10 at its finest (so far). These aren't some minor graphical nuances. This is full-blown-every-single-leaf-rendered gaming heaven. I can't even begin to describe my giddiness that my 8800GTX is finally being put to use!

So other than single player and AA missing, some other things were left out, although I can't really complain given the free beta. In the beta, there is only one multiplayer map, and the environments don't appear to be destructible like they are in the single player game (I'm assuming due to bandwidth concerns). However, both suits and weapons can be customized with a myriad of options, such as laser sights and explosive rounds for the weapons, and the strength and armor buffs for the armor. I've only really seen this customization aspect in single player games before. Also, motion blur when you turn your head rapidly takes a few minutes to get used to, and the incredibly lush foliage can make spotting enemies difficult, but then you start to soak up the atmosphere. My biggest complaint was a ping of 200, but that's a university network issue, and anyone with a 1mb/sec DSL/Cable line should get awesome network performance out of Crysis.

What's most amazing is that my system (Core 2 Duo E6700 @ 3.2 GHz, 3 Gb DDR2 800 Ram, 8800 GTX) ran Crysis at 1920x1200 with very smooth framerates at the highest settings allowed (so High as opposed to Very High, which was disabled in the Beta, and no AA support).

I've played it at Digital Life (single player). It rocks. Although that was an alpha build, so the framerate lagged.

The real life/Crysis comparisons are a good reflection on how far games have progressed, but they're very selective, once things get complex, Crysis doesn't look like real life.

The ones on the right are Crysis, right?

What are the system requirements for it?

QuoteCrysis is probably going to be the biggest PC game of the year (and it'll give Halo 3 a run for its money in terms of sales).

Crysis may be the best PC game of the year but to even suggest that it would come close to Halo 3 is ABSURD. LAUGHABLE! PC Games sales no where near the amount that console games sell. I couldn't find any numbers for Bioshock except that it was beaten in sales by Metroid Prime, which sold 400,000 copies. Halo 3 sold over a million copies, likely closer to 1.5 - 2 million. PC Games lose virtually all of their sales to piracy. Not to mention the fact that the engine Crysis runs on appears to be woefully inefficient, either that or they're just blowing smoke when it comes to the requirements.

Don't be a jerkoff and start telling me I'm just hating on the game. It sounds great, and I'll buy it like I buy all FPS games PC or Console.

QuoteWhat's most amazing is that my system (Core 2 Duo E6700 @ 3.2 GHz, 3 Gb DDR2 800 Ram, 8800 GTX) ran Crysis at 1920x1200 with very smooth framerates at the highest settings allowed (so High as opposed to Very High, which was disabled in the Beta, and no AA support).

How is this even remotely amazing? Processor speed hardly matters, anything over 3ghz will do the trick. As for RAM, I seriously doubt the game even uses 700mb. And with an 8800 GTX you'll be running every game made in the next three years at 1920x1200 with the highest settings enabled while still achieving high framerates.

one thing that almsot eveyr game has with trees is that the branches look retarded :(

anyways id say this could beat halo3 at being better in gameplay, maybe not in sales. But i mean... the fact that when u turn the screen blurs is liek the thing that seperates this game fro many other FPS lol

It's called Motion Blur. Halo 3 has it, all new Source games (TF2, Ep2, Portal) have it. It's NEW~!

Halo's gameplay is solid and unmatchable. It is also (to my understanding) a totally fucking different game from Crysis so to even compare the gameplay is retarded. Anyone who likes FPS games can safely enjoy both (assuming Crysis is good).

Halo3 is what I am spending 8 hours picking apple drops for, yea you could say im addicted.
Crysis is what I am ignoring. Crysis looks like a very common blank story about an alien invasion.

As opposed to Halo, an extremely original story about an alien invasion?

Owned  Still, the Halo series has a pretty damn awesome storyline, with a lot of it being explained outside the game (my friend got The Fall of Reach a couple of weeks ago :D ).

Man, those screenshots look awesome  I've only got a 6600 GT :P
