How do I increase a units speed with triggers,
I want to increase the speed of a vulture

someone told me to use a computer and auto-upgrade leg enhancements for zealots
Then create 1 zealot, give it to a player, and kill it, and the vulture at that location would move faster but.... that didn't work.

So does anyone know how this can be done?

i have no idea why someone told you that(or why you believed it for that matter...).

anyhow, the vultures speed can only be upgraded with the ion thrusters upgrade. i can't remember if this actually works or not, so test it yourself. research the ion thrusters ability for a computer (but not for yourself). at some point in the test, give the vulture to you. that SHOULD give all your vultures upgraded speed(if it is indeed transferable)

If you're simply talking about getting the upgrade for vulture speed, I am not positive that you can do that with just triggers, although someone else may be able to say whether that is possible or not. You can just switch to the hero vulture which has the upgrade by default.

If you are talking about increasing the speed of all units using crazy arcane methods, there is a way to do that too involving placing a certain unit at a certain point in the map. I am not certain if that still works in 1.15. Perhaps someone else knows? :P

You're bobvsbob aren't you....

I told you .. this is what you do

Have a Computer player that has the researched speed upgrade
for example.. p7

Player: Current player
Condition: blah
Action:
- Create 1 Vulture for p7 at "the corner"
- Give 1 vulture from p7 to Current player
- Kill Vulture for current player

Done. .. ur vulture will have the speed upgr.

Thats from 1.14... its patched and now crashes sc... you can do the vaspine disable gyster trick to increase the game speed a bit... but if you want to increase vulture speed... probably have an observer over the vulture and have a very fine grid system and very complicated triggers... basicly don't bother its just a waste of time...

Just give a vulture from another player with the speed upgrade to the player you want to upgrade, this works for all techs, just not for upgrades.

He wants to upgrade in-game, not as soon as the game starts.

Okay... This is gonna be extreamly long and hard...depending on your trigger control and knowalge (I have made a map of this but I'll let you create it for a knowlage gaining experaince)
How To Create AfterBurner Effect (For Any Unit)
First set up a mobile grid system of 9 zerglings creating a 3x3 square.[/QUOTE]
-Do the 9 normal directions (including staying still)(N,S,E,W,NE,NW,SE,SW,X)
-Have 9 zerglings spawn center location 1, remove 2 lings, center location 2, remove 2 lings, center location...
Create second "wave" of 9 hero zerglings
-Have it for when the observer (You will want to have speed up, and depending on the air unit speed you will want to have the observer
itself be moved to its own location depending on the speed)(Make sure you have the order for the observer to the player be similar to
hyper trigger format except have 4 of them which will ensure it will Always be onto it)
When the observer trailing the air unit goes over one of the zerglings have a death counter be added for that player
-Create custom death triggers for each individual player to ensure smoothness in trigger firing
Once that player gains a certain ammount of death counters (will varry due to the speed they go at)
-They will be ordered to previusly burrowed (zergling, hydra,dt,spidermine, ect) that has been moved to mirror oppisite of the observer)
thus creating the movement and apperence of after burners.
You must have hyper triggers and very smooth trigger outlay to do this.
-Include primary and secondary back ups for the observer movement.

**From AfterBurners topic, just take out the death counters and have the unit be moved/ordered to the location *so kind of increased speed like a boost* but you will need triggers to slow it down such as unburrowing the zergling underneith it and removeing that to reset the triggers xD.

Yeah, I've seen that map, has anyone managed to figure out an exact explanation of how to get it to work?

Also, this doesn't have to be so hard, all he has to do is transfer the tech by having a vulture with the tech given to the player without the tech.

In that map, I checked the properties of the scarab in StarForge, then removed it and placed it again, making sure to ONLY check the options that were already checked. It worked fine, but I tried the same thing on a new map, and it didn't. Mayhaps we all have to just take that map and edit it - I edited the terrain, and placed units on it, and it still worked fine. I might start looking deeper into the map to see what's different, but I can't really tell..

I'll upload the map to this post for all of you crazy people.

As for the topic starter, if you read what I posted and what other people have posted, the only way is using the P14 scarab, although there are problems with it.

There are ways to SLOW units down, however. Simply create 3x3 locations over where the units you want to be slow are going to be going, and constantly create / remove battlecruisers at those locations. Remember, you have to have hyper triggers.

I hope you're a little smarter. =P

Well on the speed up trick I think not only does the scarab have something to do with it I belive its something to do with those triggers :l.So yeah someone needs to find out how the hell it was done :l.

I believe the triggers had nothing to do with it, because you can edit the map, delete all the triggers, and all units BUT the scarab, and even edit the terrain and it will still go quickly.

dammit, I totally can't give player 14 a scarab in SCMD2. I'm guess forge is the only thing that can?

Oct 3 2007, 3:23 am Falkoner Post #19

Go into the Players section in SCM Draft and type out "Player 14", that will do it.

Oct 3 2007, 3:10 pm ClansAreForGays Post #20

are you talking about selecting the unit's properties and typing out player 14 as the owner, cuz that doesnt work.
