Hey, is there anyone here at SEN, that would be interested in making an RPG on Flash with me? I can code pretty much every aspect of it if need be, but my artistic skills are extremely lacking. If you want to see a rough copy of what me and my friend made before then I can show you it, however he doesn't wish to work on it anymore, but I think that without a deadline, and with some better coding formatting, I could pimp the RPG up to be about 10x better with about 1/4 of the code.

I can test, but my artistic skills are worse than yours.

I don't know anything about artistic skills or flash games but if you need 3D/2D modellers/animators, I could introduce you to some kick ass modellers/animators from our Sons of War project.

Well is there anything you'd like me to demonstrate to you of my abilities?
I can do all the classic arrow key directional movements, and it'd take like 5 minutes to find out how to use WASD.
I can't really do a save system because that would require some knowledge of PHP I do believe, which I have none of (yet)
I can do pretty much anything otherwise, it's all ready easy.
If you wanted a really in depth battle system, it's limit is how creative YOU get, I can code it all pretty much.

It seems that you would be able to create a very simple flash game...

i dont play FF but let me give you a summary of what i think you mean by FF Tactics and you can correct me, mkay?

World map for walking around.
Random encounters with random enemies and random quantity.
Entering/ Exiting towns.
Talking to people.
"Quests" to complete.
And birds eye view the whole game?

Your flash game sounds like it is not ready to have high quality artwork or even any kind of artwork in it.

Try calling on artistic talent when you do decide to create something truly amazing or decide to beefen up this flash game with more depth than in it's current format.

If your game for recreational purposes, try to just try to use your own art regardless of how horrific it is. The only person you should be trying to impress is yourself.

Wow.

That's sooooooooo hard.

LOL! That's pretty sad, actually...

Want to see some C/C++ code that could do the same thing? (I'd have to tap into the MFC and all that stuff if you really wanted me to get technical with it..)

This code will not work, so all you C/C++ heads stfu please, this is an example:

if(UPARROW = TRUE)
{
//Insert your movement code here
} else {
//Insert your non-movement code here
};

I only read up on the MFC and Win32 programming a tiny bit.. Haven't really delved into it at all.

But anyways... Why would a save system require PHP? It'd only require PHP if you were doing an online game...

You'd probibly have to use XML or something of the like for a save system... Or code some weird Actionscript shit to save all the data 'n stuff.

But good luck with your simplistic game :D

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure their world doesn't revolve around only them like egotists like you ;)

What more is needed for a flash game?
It is all the same shit pretty much, and as for the PHP comment, several people suggested i'd need PHP so that's why I did include it.
I am not bad at programming despite what you may of already came to think.
I don't know many languages but that's because im busy, if I wanted to waste my spare time on learning C/C++ I would, if I wanted to waste my spare time on PHP, XML or any of that shit, I would.
Points is I can make a game if you tell me what you want, and I can make a game but I can't make art... so the idea is I need art, you offer to assist, not negative criticize.

Give me a list of things a game NEEDS

Do it yourself?

PHP isn't hard to learn, nor is C/C++

They are almost identical... Except PHP has some different syntax and is for online stuff....

C# is online, but C# is weird.

C# you have to create classes for EVERYTHING... And you're dealing with Namespaces mostly as well.. Pretty weird stuff..
