I was looking at Wikipedia, and it said "Although Blizzard Entertainment refuses to list it as such, many of the industry's journalism outlets such as IGN and GameSpot now list Ghost as cancelled."

A little before this it was talking about how Blizzard was investigating " seventh generation video game console possibilities."

Could Blizzard possibly still be working on SC:G, and maybe for the Wii, X-Box 360, and PS3? Might it still come about?

Just here for the pie

I thought Starcraft Ghost was in development in about 2003-2004 or somewhere around there. Why would they continue it now?

I think they should release the beta w/o support to increase SC2 hype. Then their wasted millions could be put to at least some use.

Well they still own the company they gave it too... maybe they are busy giving them proper programming lessons. :P

Oh god, chu finally made a decent joke.

Anyway, I thought this was suspended. Actually I think I found out SC:G existed when I found out it was suspended :P

fuck you all

Basically Blizzard wasn't satisfied with the progress being made on Ghost so they canned it and refocused their efforts on other projects.

Well, if they deny that the project has been canceled, then there is always the chance of it being revived.
Maybe they found a new engine, and had to implement that, and the the Next-gen systems came out? They could be working on getting it to conform for the new systems.

Of course, I could be totally off the mark here, seeing how my source is Wikipedia....

That wouldn't have taken 2 years to do. Ghost is gone, and if comes back, it won't be the same game it was before.

I think they realized that they were going to make SC2 so they didn't want to F up SC's rep with a game that didn't seem that great to begin with.

A rumor said that blizzard suspended the prooject, because what they wanted to do with the game, and allow users to do, they weren't able to make. So they will continue it when they have the adequate stuff for it.

Maybe they need blu-ray for it. Since Sony was fucking smart, they copyrighted blu-ray or something, so only they can use it for games. So Microsoft can't use blu-ray with the XBox unless they pay Sony money all the time. If SC:Ghost needs blu-ray, and only PS3 has blu-ray, it isn't that big of a market to sell it too. So they will probably wait until xbox can use blu-ray before they continue it.

(My theory :O)

Except for how Blu-Ray is slow as shit, so developers have to put data in multiple place on the disc so the laser doesn't have to travel so far, making the extra space redundant. GG, Sony.

Why would SC: Ghost need Blu-ray? Crysis only needed a DVD, and I daresay that Crysis had more data than SC: Ghost would have.

Your theory fails so hard. Sony "was so fucking smart" to keep the rights to their own invention. SC:G was canned before Blu-Ray came into existense. Most developers aren't even filling up an entire Blu-Ray. Also, 2 DVDs is about the equivelant of 1 Blu-Ray. The Xbox 360 will never have a Blu-Ray drive, thus, will never have a Blu-Ray game. But let's suppose that you are right and SCG was canned because it needs Blu-Ray. What's to stop it from releasing on PS3 and just skipping Xbox? Blizzard already sunk a large portion of money into it and wouldn't just kill it because it couldn't fit on a DVD.

I was using blu-ray as an example. Maybe it wasn't even SC:G.. but some project was cancelled, i thought it was SC:G because the developers weren't able to do everything they wanted to do with the game..

Actually, that sounds kinda reasonable, not having the technology to do something, so putting it on hold.
I don't think it has anything to do with the Blu-ray disks, cause I've seen some pretty great stuff without it...
But if it is just that they didn't have what they needed back then, then they could be getting closer to it every day, and if they do intend to continue it, then I'm hoping they will get what they need soon.

I dont understand English very well and i`m to tired to read all what you guys does write in this threat, but i did send a mail to blizzard about SC Ghost and Josh said:

Thank you for contacting Blizzard Entertainment Technical Support. My name is Josh and I will be assisting you today.

Production of StarCraft: Ghost has been indefinitely postponed while we evaluate opportunities for utilizing the additional power of the new and upcoming console systems. Any future news on this title will be posted at http://www.blizzard.com

I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced.

Sooo.... What I can get from that, is that they are looking at the newer systems while they let the project sit there. Well, it's better than nothing I suppose. I hope they like what they can do on the new systems and decide to continue production.

Thanks Darkmapper!

Why can't they just make it for computer? It's way easier to control shooting games on and it's always "new"!

i think it will be better cause of the graphic of the nex.gen consoles. And its even more fun, when i can play it with a Xbox 360 as with the computer. I have a dual processor PC and good graphiccard but when i play BF i have to switch to the lowest quality. so is the Console idea much better i think. ( or on both, who knows?)

Graphics on the 360 are already outdated. I just rebuilt my computer essentially for $350 (mobo, memory, GPU, hard drive, and CPU) and I can run games that look and play better than their console counterparts (COD4 and Bioshock are two examples) and I can play games that can't be ported to the 360 without losing graphics quality (Crysis).

Not going to talk about the PS3, no one really knows where its limits lie yet because the 360 is holding it back in a lot of games.
