As for why they have a different look (and even a different look within SC1), I read that their genetic code of the Zergling is so simple that different broods have different zergling looks. Kerrigan, apparantly, found one she likes.

While I don't think the wings look bad, they're too big and imply that they can fly. It'd also take a while to get used to the new look, so I could tell a zergling at a glance).

People are complaining about the Zergling looks because they're insectish- while they thought them to be more brute animalish. But they obviously were idiots and didn't realize the Zerg is the Swarm and 'Swarm' is completely restricted to insects.

Not just that, but the morph from larvae. Though, they have some reptilian traits, too, they're primarily insects.

I'm pretty sure that most people know that "swarm" only referred to insects, but kinda forget there "insects" when the primary unit looks like a puppy dogs with scythes taped on their backs.

Swarm != insects. If you've ever read anything about Starcraft, you should know that the Zerg assimilate other beings. They even assimilated humans, one more permanently than others. How does this suddenly make them insectoid? I mean at this point, I can't see any alternative other than you're just stupid or you're trying to create trouble aka an ass. So take your pick. You're just being silly.

Now to cover up the grave, we should remember this is a science fictional universe, emphasis on the fictional. For anyone to assume that when an alien group or race calls something by a common term, that it means exactly the same thing as it would on Earth (if it were as you say), that person is obviously naïve.

Dracolich, you should tell us where you read that. If it's just some lore, a lot of that's gonna change with SC2, as much as they may like to keep most of it. But if that's what they're going with now, then that's unfortunate. It could still be changed though, perhaps, especially if we all bring it to their attention.


Now, if we're going to petition Blizzard about any of this, you must come at them with respect, as they're doing the work here for us. I know you all know that, but keep it in mind, or we'll prolly get nowhere. Another thing is... it'd be really nice to actually get a list of names of people that feel strongly about this, with maybe a small note as to why attached. If we can get that all together, then it'll mean a whole lot more than one person complaining.

Considering how "passionate" this thread's been from the start, myself included, it may not be the best example to show them, but we could certainly take excerpts.

I have a petition pseudo-clan thing which I could re-purpose for this, except I left it after the petition ended because I thought that would delete it. I'll ask Moose if he can admin-hax me back into it.

Okay, first off, this thread didn't end months ago. It was brought back on the 5th of December, and you guys don't seem to get that you've been posting in it for two pages. If it's so dead, why are you still here? BeDazed, that means you. Please be constructive or leave this thread to those who actually care about it.

Stick a fork in this topic. I've not seen any productive discussion for a good while. The people that don't care aren't going to change their minds. The best shot for the people that DO want the zergling's appearance changed is to get involved with some kind of petition or just wait for Blizzard to change their minds again like they always do a million times when making a game.
