When it comes to serious issues like politics, religion, current events, I am very tolerant of other people's beliefs and stances. I am tolerant of liberals, conservatives, libertarians, and etc. I am also tolerant of fundamentalist christians, atheists, agnostics, and people of other religions. I am even also tolerant of gays, anti-gays, and pro-gays. Even when it comes to other issues like abortion, the war in iraq, and even our president, I hold no grudges against people who told a different view from me. Overall I am tolerant and understanding of many groups of people.

... except for conspiracists. This is THE one group of people I absolutely CANNOT stand. IMO closed minded people who twist obvious facts, take quotations and pictures out of context, spread lies to the people with their arrogant assholeish attitudes, are definately people that the world could use less of. Yes I have said that I am ardenly against people who hold such hateful views against others, but just for this one time I am going to be a hypocrite. Today I was walking around campus, and there was this huge group of people with all these posters and signs saying how 9/11 was an inside job and how we need to "open our eyes" and prevent WWIII from happening. This one person with the microphone was criticizing about how the towers fell and there were explosions. Obviously these people have NO knowledge about basic engineering (I am a civil engineer, and I'm pretty sure I at least know how and why the towers collapsed). But what pisses me off most is their arrogant attitudes. They're like "OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE! TAKE YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASSES AND LOOK AT REALITY!" That's pretty much what makes me despise them the most. But still, these people do nothing but harm to our society by spreading lies and twisted "facts." I'm sorry if I offended any of you conspiracists out there, but just seeing them do what they did today on campus made my head steam.

/Agree.

The thing I've noticed about conspiracists is that they seem to be the least close-minded. They regard facts that disprove their points as lies by evil corporations that can profit somehow from the event.

LOL, people STILL think 9/11 is a conspiracy? I thought that died out a couple years ago. This South Park episode does an awesome job at mocking these people: http://www.southparkzone.com/episode-vid-1009.htm (mostly near the end)

I believe yet another paper was published recently by Cambridge University, refuting the 9/11 conspiracy. Yes, the buildings collapsed due to the structural damage caused by the aircraft, and no, it wasn't a controlled demolition.

Conspiracists piss me off (along with several other people) when a plane crashes into a building, you dont need a bomb to make it fall.

Rosie O Donnel is up to something... I can feel it

Aha thats true. People still don't realize 9/11 was just 2 planes crashing into 2 tall buildings that happen to be in the way. Which eventually led bush to just invade neutral countries for oil.

While I find them to be annoying at time (GOD I HATE ALIEN CONSPIRACY SHOWS ON DISCOVERY CHANNEL), I think totally eliminating them from the planet would disrupt the balance. You need to have people like this that question everything and come up with their own ideas. Maybe one day they will actually be on to something.

I like conspiracy theories, they're interesting to see what kind of stuff they bring up. Normally they end up not being true for obvious reasons, or they're just made out of thin air based on "What ifs." I read them more for fun than actual knowledge.

However.

The 9/11 conspiracy is a little iffy. I don't think the Wold Trade Centers were a controlled demolition or something like that, but more importantly the Pentagon Strike and the crash of United 93. Anyone who fully believes both those planes crashed where they say they crashed is lying to themselves. This is the type of "OMG IM RIGHT UR NOT" attitude you were talking about that you hate. But when the evidence and proof leads more to the conspiracy then the fact sheet released on fox news, which one of us is being close minded?

I'm sure you've seen the famed video and I've yet to find anything that counters the obvious facts pulled up in that video. There's next to no debris left to show proof that a plane was there, especially one that's that big. And the photographs released by the pentagon don't solve anything since the object that hit the building is only there for a single frame. Also there's plenty of other places that would've been able to pick up video of what happened, but they're never released.

The major problem with conspiracies is the "Why" even if I were to prove to everyone that a 757 did not hit the pentagon, I myself would still be wondering why someone would do that. But more importantly, why would they cover it up?

There's nothing wrong with questioning generally accepted ideas, or thinking outside of the box, but saying stuff like "OPEN YOUR EYES" or "GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS" is wrong, obviously.

In the end however, accepting them is the right thing to do. No matter how much someone angers you, you've just got to keep it yourself, because you otherwise stoop to their level. The conspiracy theorists are angered themselves, which then leads to your anger because you've deducted something more reasonable, but how do you know that someone above us isn't angered at you right now with even better reasoning in mind?

Yes, I really hate people who try to make other people change their beliefs or thoughts and making them believe and think the way they do. I just really hate it.

MilleniumArmy, have you ever just went along with them? And just said, "OOh ya!! It must be a conspiracy!! Yup, okay!" and then ask "Now what?", what do you do with conspiracies.. ? Prancing around all over the place telling people to believe what you believe, is a waste of time I think. Why don't they actually do something productive instead of wasting other people's time.

Lol, I just looked up a video for the pentagon crash, and it was hilarious :P

I go look up some others, these are quite interesting.

50 Tons of Metal? No I haven't, sorry.

And even if it was "BURNED TO A CRISP" the CRSIP would still be there, it wasn't. They can't even find a wing? how about one of those giant rotating engine things? How about BODIES? Or something. You expect me to believe it all evaporated into the air?

I don't! I just laugh at people who do that. :)

I don't make people think the way I think, but it would be nice if they did, but then if they did everyting would be boring, and nothing would work out, therefore it wouldn't be good for people to think the way I think, and I think it would be best if people just did whatever they want and people stop complaining about whta other people do with their lives, and worry about their own, and lalalalala.

Well, to tell the truth, the 9/11 commission report on the tower collapse was anti-science, they started with the conclusion that the towers fell down due to a progressive collapse due to fire, and tried to rationalize it.

In fact a progressive collapse takes a very long time(around 1-2 minutes for a tower of that size), virtually all of the GPE(gravitational potential energy) has to go toward bending steel and pulverizing concrete, leaving very little energy to accelerate the debris toward the ground. But the demolition wave on 9/11 and all the debris, accelerated down at just about 9.8 M/S^2(look at the video archives), meaning ALL of the towers GPE was converted directly to KE, accelerating the tower, and none of it went into bending steel. Where did the energy come from?

The buildings had no support columns in the middle at all (each floor was basically supported at the sides only), so if you are comparing it to buildings that do, then it is irrelevant.
