So, my little brother got a laptop pc a while ago, and it has vista, and he's like "I want Diablo II" on this. But after trying to vista doesn't allow Diablo.... So in turn he had to dl windows launcher so he can use xp on his vista laptop. what a pain! Other than the fact that virtually every aspect of vista sucks, does this not fully prove that vista is completely worthless? Why would some dumb idiot at Microsoft block one of the most highly preferred rpg's ever invented?(<--no source)

There will always be people in this world that never accept responsibilities. We all know and hate these kind of people. The kind of people that time and time again get away with all sorts of shenanigans. Everyday another load of banana-split comes spewing out of their mouth. So how do we get back at them? We talk behind their backs. ALL THE TIME. When their backs are turned we beat them down, not because we like being rude, but because they deserve it. But when their backs aren't turned, and we want to talk bad about them, we call them democrats.

It's called not being compatible. Some idiot at Microsoft isn't just like "Hey, let's not let people play diablo! kekekekekeke" during the development of Vista. I've had nothing but great experiences with Vista so I don't see where you are coming from. It's still weird that Diablo isn't compatible with Vista... maybe you installed it wrong?

You need to patch it to a more recent version before you can run it on Vista. This means you need to download the patch from the web site instead of doing it in the game. If you read the instructions in the message it brings up when you tried to run the game, you would probably see something that tells you to do that, if I recall correctly. When Vista blocks you from running an incompatible program, it tells you so and what to do (usually telling you to download the latest update for the program).

What's wrong with Vista? I don't get it. It's a fine stable OS. There arn't many driver problems anymore. Most applications and games run fine. Vista does have more overhead than Xp but thats to be expected (95 vs 98 vs 2000 vs XP vs Vista, Mac Os X Tiger vs Leopard). My only problem is that it isn't a huge improvement over Xp.

I've had Diablo 2 working on Vista since Beta 2 of Vista. There's a very simple fix for getting Diablo 2 to work in Vista. Just because you were to lazy to use google doesn't mean Vista is a bad OS.

Vista SP1 manages to pull out equivalent framerates with XP. It's just as stable (I've had no OS crashes with Vista in my first 3 months, and XP didn't crash for about a few years later). It is more secure. Tons of people like Vista, just the Vista haters scream and yell about Vista's launch problems louder.

I still haven't heard WHY you think Vista sucks. If you are going to say it's awful, then say why because you are the only person in this thread that really hates it so far.

I have a multi-user setup in Windows on my computer, and in my opinion Vista has so far been the best Windows version in that respect. Also, the time is fast approaching when people will need to use a 64-bit version of Windows and that the 32-bit versions just won't be an option (this is already the case for some people). More and more people are getting 4 GB or more of RAM, and that requires the 64-bit version to be able to fully utilize it. 32-bit can use an absolute maximum of 4 GB, and the 32-bit version isn't really designed to even be able to use that much either.

Sure there's Windows XP x64 Edition, but that sometimes may not be supported as well since it isn't really a mainstream version, and it has many of the same compatibility issues as Vista anyway.

I dislike it because of personal experiences with the OS itself getting corrupted. So I installed XP and am happy.

I have Vista and have never had problems with it. Except once, when the computer shut down on its own, but everything was saved.

Its just a matter of how noob you are at computers.

From silent:
"lolol First of all wikipedia is flawed because anyone can come into it and post anything. About criticism.. no. You can't just change the definition of a word and expect everyone to bow down in awe. I am using macro evolution as an identifier between changing from one kind to another kind. I.E. bananas turning into flies. So if you want to argue about this then your argueing about the definition of a word.. Not the theory itself. If you want I can use false evolution, or neverbeenseenbefore evolution instead of macro. Its up to you"
This is stupidity. Please look at it very closely -- notice that almost every logical fallacy is used in it.

The big thing with Windows Vista is that often when people use it all the time, they think the problems they see are normal, and as such, don't classify them as problems. Also, a lot of people aren't willing to admit that microsoft cannot code worth shit, and instead blame the computer not acting how it should on themselves, or assuming it's just the way computers work.

Reasons why Vista isn't a good OS.

Also, I'd like to add that Wine has really come a long way. I can run Starcraft, Anim8or, Photoshop, Half-Life 2, and all the modding tools I've checked so far flawlessly.

Also, you have to defrag Windows every week or so (it does this automatically by default), you need to run hefty anti-virus and firewalls, and you're still vulnerable to security holes in IE, Outlook, and other M$ programs. Also, Windows Vista's shrink drive (non)-feature doesn't work at all. Also, having to spend three hours configuring a printer is not considered "compatible". It should be a 6 click process, max, like in Ubuntu. Settings -> Printers -> Add Printer -> Company-Printername -> OK. Also, performing any file operations takes an insane amount of time, unless you use the command line.

I'm thinking that I might be able to ditch Windows altogether, as I haven't actually done anything on it for ages, and I even still have an image of Maplantis with the Xel-Naga Temple in my speed-dial. Yeah, that's how long it's been.

>< I have failed. I have followed the off-topic-ness.

I never defrag my Windows unless it's going incredibly slow.
I have no anti-virus program on this laptop. Not one. It doesn't have any viruses. It runs perfectly fine. Vista automatically comes with Windows Defender which is pretty light. You don't get to many Viruses/Spyware except through Trojans nowdays. And for your printer problem, how is that Vista's fault? Ubuntu had drivers for it, Vista didn't. Hell if you just took a second to google you could have probably found the drivers in under 5 minutes. Printers need a better standard for drivers which needs to be set by those who make the printers.

Most of your other problems with Vista seem to it going slow or lagging or UAC(which you can turn off and should turn off). Here's the thing about this. Most people arn't forgiving Microsoft about it, most people aren't experiencing your problem. Try updating your drivers on your graphics card, upgrading ram, or going from Aero Glass to Aero. When I go through the list of your problems with Vista they simply don't match up with the Vista's i've used.

Yea. I've never had any of your problems Laser_Dude. I have a high end computer (Q6600, 4GB RAM, 8800GT) so it might just work better with Vista. Vista loads up in about a minute with my computer and barely takes time to shut it down.
