Well, as you may see by my signature, I recently installed Starcraft. I joined a game called Snowball wars, downloaded in the blink of an eye, and got kicked, probably because I was downloading it.. and now, the looking for games screen is always black in any category. I restarted SC, restarted my computer, and the problem persists. My installation is actually quite unstable, since if I start SC up too early after turning on computer the palette's likely to be screwed over, and I usually have to alt/tab out and back in during the loading screen to get it to continue
. If anyone can help me fix this problem, it'll be GRAET!

I have that problem too. But that problem is solved by 'waiting it out'.

I have a similar problem. Waiting it out don't work.

That often helps (last time I tried to get SC to work, I had a major palette disorder, insane amount of random crashes, and.. there was something else), but I still want something I can actually do to fix it without waiting, and I kinda want to know how long it can take

You might need a new graphics card or something. Is yours a good one? I found my problem was that there werent enough memory for starcraft. LOL?

My problem, I think, was that my graphic card was too advanced or something. It's pretty good - a $700 desktop 2 years ago + $300 graphics card (nVidea 6600, I think) and I recently upgraded memory to 2GB.
It started working again. I think the fix is Create Game -> Go into a different folder. Not sure. But that seemed to work for me.

Yeah but if you go in a game and wait a bit, it comes back. The only way I found to fix it was to exit starcraft and go back on it again. It also happens when you alt+tab out of the game.

Exiting and reloading didn't fix it for me, hell, even restarting my computer didn't fix it. Well, it's a ten year old game, good thing it runs at all
.
EDIT: CONFIRMED! The thing that resets it (at least for me) with 100 success record is: Create Game, Browse, Go to previous folder (upper folder?) twice, randomly select a few UMS maps like 5 times quickly, return, and it worked. Weird as hell.

My GFXcard is nVidia GeForce 8800 and works well running StarCraft: Broodwar <.<

Sometimes that happens to me and I just have to wait like 20 seconds.

I still say wait it out. But hey, you got it working.
When this happens to me, I just go back to the lobby and connect again. Maybe try that for an alternative?

Nah, I tried that. I tried a lot of things. As I said, not even restarting would make it work. MY brilliant method worked like 6 times unfailingly. Well, I got a weird version of your guys' problems.

I get that empty games list too sometimes, and its the most annyoing problem ever. Blizzard should've fixed that ages ago..

GeForce 6600 is old boi, what you saying?
I'm running on 8800 SLI and mine works fine. For me when it blacks out, I usually create a game, then wait 15 seconds. Then I leave, join some random channel or talk to friend and the list refills.

I think he means that a Geforce 6600 is advanced enough for Starcraft.
