I recently been updating and testing my map (2)Eye of the Storm, Unfortunately when other join to play and need to download, it takes forever!
While I have suggested over and over to players that its faster to download from the link I provide (which directs to my map here on SEN) they normally refuse for many reasons, one of them is because they think I'm sending them a virus! LOL kids)
Anyways, In the past I used a program called SCFreeSounds, it was created by MM-Heimdal of Clan StarEdit, author of Starforge, (an advanced Starcraft brood War Map Editor of its time). The program allows me to import sounds from the CD on the disk. since then We don't need CDs anymore to play the game, and the Program is since then obsolete.
SCMDraft 2, provides a lot of modern advancements but for some strange reason I cant seem to import the sound and add it to the Map.
I added the appropriate MPQ (StarDat, Broodat, etc) to the SCMD2, but it still doesn't allow me to add them from the Sound Editor. I know I can edit the string via String Editor but for some reason that also did not work.
This stuff is nearly a decade old since I really used it 9granted I have used it since then, but not much).
I go soo frustrated I actually took time to re-register some OCX files on my WIN7(64bit) PC to re-enable using SCFreeSounds, which was awesome, for about 5 mins! my Over-achievement Ego tried to install Starforge, which in tern tried to overirde files, which in the end messed up, crash the program install, then on TOP of that, somehow SCFreesounds stopped working, and even now trying to use Windows mode to play BW using ICCcup launcher messed up.. all cuz of the install in SF? (like really)
Lesson learned when messing with stuff you don't fully understand! BACK TO SQUARE 1!
so SCMD2, string editor or is their another way I can Import the sound files (.wav) from the MPQ files?
PS- I originally did this already, but do to issues with no able to hear sound from the CD's I reverted back to sound in the map file. Basically what this meant was when using the BW CD (back in the day) to run starcraft, you could NOT hear the sound from Starcraft CD (which is what the files had imported from). Now if a player was using his SC CD (not BW) they would hear the sounds
This will STILL BE AN ISSUE since when running BW, it uses the BroodWar.MPQ over the STARCRAFT.MPQ file. I am willing to look over this however since I'm just trying to make a small version of the map for battle.net Only.

After Trial An error, I finally got the string editor to work, Thanks JJ
