Sure.
These guys have a backstory and everything. For now I'll just give a really basic outline: Story: Nuclear apocalypse, this is about 15 years later, [War took place about 2010] Happily, the nuclear war pretty much brought about world peace. Two major factions rose from the ashes, usually minding their own business. But scuffles often break out between the factions. One of them has escalated into several skirmishes. And war may flare up again. Blue: Drake's Enforcers Background: An extremist group, they believe in communism. And the ideals that go with that. Their units tend to be larger and more powerful than red's units. Red: Iron Crusaders Background: This group is held together by a new religion, celebrating a god-like entity, but with different ideals than christianity. They believe in peace, but will act aggressively when threatened. Neither of the factions are "bad", they simply have different beliefs and tend to end up fighting when cooped together. These ideas might form themselves into a game. Might. BTW, my avatar is the Iron Crusaders logo. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Eh has a gauss rifle and eh doesnt afraid of anything.

To be honest, I wouldn't have recognized what the Crusader's supposed to be ( besides some pixels, of course ) , and hardly the Phalanx and Tank, had you not named them. xP
Not that my early sprites were any better... blah, handmade gradients are the only thing I can do much. D: I don't doubt that in the least. =P Such disclaimers are generally unnecesary for images that small, I should think, given that there's not really much room for shading - let alone good shading - and what is there is quite noticably unused. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I am gooey...

Well, all of the images are supposed to be viewed at 2x resolution.

The Crusader admittedly is a bit hard to make out, but since these are [possibly] going to be game sprites, they don't need shading. Since light sources would change, it would be odd if every unit had changing shadows too. Your point with the inability to recognise them probably comes from the fact that they aren't moving, I've made some prototype executables [with other units I've drawn, not these] but I don't think SEN trusts me enough to download a .exe [I don't blame you!] Although, your issue with the Phalanx, if you previously didn't recognise it was a walker, how did "Phalanx" hlp you to identify it? I'm also fairly certain that the Aegis tank would be recognised as a tank fairly quickly by anyone who knows what a tank looks like. Zoom in times 2 when you view these, the appearance changes. I was going for a retro C&Cish theme with these. [Although originally I attempted to draw a Siege Tank, that kinda evolved into the HellHound.] Attached now is an image I made, it represents how I WANT the finished product to look like. It was made by pasting my sprites in, it's not actually an ingame screenshot. This post was edited 1 time, last edit by candle12345: Jan 12 2008, 4:48 am.

Well, shading usually does help sprites in defining depth in their shapes, and most games, regardless of light source, do have shaded units. Well, if they're animated, couldn't you use a .gif? xP But ya, that would help a lot. I for some reason rarely see sprites of that sort animated, oddly enough, so it's what I'd come to expect. Its name in particular didn't help much, but context, given by the others' names, did. Well, the turret looks rather awkwardly large, the treads take up more space on the lower area than they look like they have available at top, and combined with the fact that the first impression I got when I saw the front was of an airplane... Moving, I'd probably recognize it, sure. I'm rather used to thinking in terms of games where that stuff's mostly background detail and 1x-zoom pixel art. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I am gooey...

My style in these is supposed to be low amounts of different colours, a sort of arcade appearance.

Please, zoom in 2x when viewing them, that's the resolution [hopefully] ingame. I'm going to attach the dropship to this post [It's had the most work done on it]. The dropship has a fully working .exe example. If anyone is interested, PM me, with a method of sending you the .exe as well. Most upload sites won't let me [for obvious reasons]. Also, making the infantry larger would ruin the current scale, I don't like it when scale gets out of hand... [See WCIII ><] I might attach the dropship takeoff sequence. It looks pretty cool. PixelJoint is awesome. You can find some stuff by me on there, or, preferrably, you could go look at some of the best pixel artworks ever.

These are pretty old. A few SEN wipeout things have occurred since they were posted. So they probly just go teaten up then...
Like my new avatar? Just finished it then. It depicts my two protagonists in a story i'm writing on www.starcraft.org They're fighting an unknown foe in an underground installation. Download and zoom in a tad for best effect ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Eh has a gauss rifle and eh doesnt afraid of anything.
