PC will not start

No fans spin and no lights. Nothing happens when I press the power button and I can't tell what part is causing this. Its one thingfor the computer to turn on and have an error screen by computer wI'll not turn on at all. These are the best clues and actions I've taken:

PSU is set to 'on'

PSU does not have a red switch to change the voltage, can't be that

Made sure all the cables from the psu to all of the other components are attached. I had unplugged and replugged

Made sure the power strip has power and that the pc is getting power

My speakers which gets its power from the pc turns on and off if I flip the power button on the PSU. Does that mean the mother board and PSU are cleared?

Took out the CPU and put it back on to check for any noticeable problems with it though as far as I know on the outside it seemed fine. Not sure if dead.

Checked cables to the hard drive to make sure they were okay

Had a problem before where PC wouldn't turn on because the power button's cable came loose from the motherboard but I've made sure that it's plugged in

-------------------------+

But yea. I think the only reasons for a PC to not turn on at all are because of the CPU, PSU, or motherboard not working right? And like I said even though the PC won't started up my speakers are getting power through the motherboard > PSU so is that a good enough reason to clear them both and point to the CPU as the problem? I almost never turn my PC off. Could that have been the cause? Wat do guys?

Also I realized my PC wouldn't turn on when I woke up on April fools. :C

Short the power switch pins to make sure it's something other than the power switch being broken.

Sorry I don't know what it means to short something but I looked it up and I think doing something like using a screw driver on the power pins should be what you are asking for right? It didn't work meaning its not a faulty power button but a mother board /CPU problem :c

Or am I dumb. Idk.

Sounds like you figured it out correctly how to short the power switch.

I'd assume the PSU is bad. Try another.
Since it's apparently not entirely dead it might be possible to start up the computer with minimal components connected. Use onboard gfx, remove hdds, CD/DVD drives, the speakers, USB devices, the gfx card and everything else that is non-essential to at least get a boot failure screen. If it does that it's likely your PSU has aged to a point where it can't power everything anymore and you might get away with only your main hdd plugged in until you get a new psu.

Testing the mobo and psu in another computer might also help to identify the problem.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

what PSU did you have and what PSU did you replace it with?

old one was a Corsair AX750. Been in use for about a year and a half. New one is a thermaltake Smart M series 850 watt. Wanted to get a lower watt psu than the 750 to save money for this replacement part but I did not want to wait and just took one of the two PSU's Best buy had available.

Oh_Man -- because it adds anotherr level of player decision-making where u dont wanna walk too far away from the medic or u lose healing value

Oh_Man -- initially I thought it was weird why is he still using the basic pre-EUD medic healing system, but it's actually genius

Vrael shouted: I almost had a heart attack just thinking about calculating all the offsets it would take to do that kind of stuff
With the modern EUD editors, I don't think they're calculating nearly as many offsets as you might imagine. Still some fancy ass work that I'm sure took a ton of effort

Oh_Man -- definitely EUD
