Guess I formulated myself pretty bad the first time, I'm sorry for that.

Well what I'd like to know is if it's possible to have something like a Warp prism in SC, according to what some modders have told me, the Pylon field can only be deplyed as the Pylon is built, other buildings can be made to get the Pylon field is what a modder told me, however I've never seen any mod with more than one Pylon.

Well the subject of this thread is if a Pylon field could be deplyed as a mode for a unit.

I'm working on some plugin code that allows other units to produce psi fields (aka Pylon auras). But please provide details:

  • Does this Warp Prism constantly generate psi fields?
  • Only when it is stopped? Or on hold?
  • Is it a sort of temporary spell cast on a unit? (Or maybe on the ground?)
  • What if the unit dies? What if the unit enters a transport? What if it is recalled? There are many edge cases.

According to the lore the warp prism saves the loaded units as data thus if it get destroyed any units "carried" by it are destroyed with it.
I mean the warp prism to be a flying unit replacing the Shuttle and have almost instant deployment when unloading troops.

And having a mode in which it transforms into an other form which makes it work like a Pylon (but flying still), also keeping it's ability to unload and to load units when deplyed.
You could use the same iscript for the transformation as the tank uses if you use the same amount of frames I guess.

Thanks a lot, this will indeed be useful at some point.
Seems like the completed code will allow an other unit but the Pylon to deploy a psi field.

Zoan -- i just tested. you actually just cant move unfinished buildings I guess. Tried moving all players and players 9 -12, tried giving players then moving. nothing works if its unfinished, but as soon as it's finished it works.

Zoan -- At least you can set the hp and build time of terran buildings so that repair never actually conteracts their hp loss while on fire..

Zoan -- also I think you can set the hp and build time of a building so that it literally will never complete it's build, iirc.
