There has been a lot of talk recently about how long it has been since ultra basic home computers were kicking around (e.g. the 8-bit BBC Micro, which was designed to be poked around in). Around 30 years ago, these machines were partially responsible for getting the present generation of programmers interested in the subject, and provided a suitable testbed for their experiments.

There's a project called Raspberry Pi which is nearing the production stage now, which is a modern twist on the concept. There are plans to add expansion boards (to drive motors and other components off), and the units will retail at about $25. I'm pretty excited and I'm not a programmer or hardware fanatic. Just thought I'd post this because I know there are a lot of people who dabble in this kind of thing on here.

Sounds interesting and cheap enough that I might consider getting one or two to play around with.
